Christopher Teves Strikes a Chord

Working with a fellow artist like Christopher Teves always inspires me!

I’ve known Christopher for a long time. I remember photographed images for the cover of one of his first CDs many years ago. We often bump into each other at weddings when he’s playing the processional, or at recitals where he’s a featured musician. But spending quality time with him the other afternoon was a real honor!

Christopher is the kind of gentle old soul that resonates with me. We could have been brothers in another lifetime! His passion for his art runs deep. He loves what he does. And he works REALLY hard to be the best that he can be at his craft!

If you haven’t had the pleasure, I highly recommend seeking out Christopher’s next performance, booking a guitar lesson, or crashing the next wedding he’s playing! 🙂 Check him out at www.christopherteves.com.

Erika Lynn Handmade Handbags

The other day I had a really cool product shoot with an incredible Charleston artist, designer, and producer of fine handmade purses, handbags, shoes, bow ties, and accessories!

Erika Lynn has been nominated to the “Best of Charleston” this year. She’s in the top 5 and could win her category!!! If you know Erika and would like to vote for her, here’s the link: http://charlestoncitypaper.secondstreetapp.com/l/Best-of-Charleston-2016-1/Ballot/ShopsandWares.

Tatjana & Scott’s Historic Charleston Engagement Shoot

Many thanks to our friends at Sposa Bella Photography for recommending us to Tatjana & Scott! They are such a fun and charismatic couple. Their energy is contagious. And their love is a joy to behold!

Here are a few favorites from their beautiful Historic Charleston Engagement Shoot. We started out at Washington Square Park, worked our way down the famous Chalmers Street, hit the dramatic Dock Street Theater, and caught the haunted Philadelphia Alley before working our way back up Broad Street.

I can’t WAIT to be a part of their beautiful wedding day!!! 🙂

Angelique Kerber

Congratulations to 2015 Family Circle Cup Champion, and now 2016 Australian Open Champion, Angelique Kerber!!!

Less than a year after winning in Charleston, Kerber stunned Serena Williams down under in a 6-4 3-6 6-4 thriller. This is her first grand slam title! The big-hitting lefty’s accomplishment deprived the American of a 22nd major title, which would have tied Kerber’s fellow German, Steffi Graf, for the lead in the Open Era.

Kerber sunk to her knees when Williams sent a forehand volley sailing long on match point. Emotions soon manifested themselves in tears as the gravity of what the 7th seed had accomplished finally sunk in. Later, the legendary Steffi Graf, one of my personal favorites of all time, called Kerber to congratulate her.

Hopefully we’ll see Angelique Kerber back this year at the newly renamed Volvo Car Open!!! 🙂

Oh Canada!

My personal work always takes a back seat to our client’s work.

This is indeed the way it should be, since we truly have the best clients in the world! Our clients love our fast and efficient deliver of their images. And we wouldn’t have it any other way!

In between assignments, when I have an afternoon off here and there, I work on my travel, nature, wildlife, and fine-art images that are sitting in the archive, waiting for me to bring them to life. Last weekend, Cami and I visited family out of town. During quiet moments in between long walks, late night card games, and delicious meals, I wrapped up editing on the thousands of images I photographed last summer in Canada.

I had traveled to Montreal, on assignment for the incredible folks at the US Grains Council. We absolutely love working for this incredible organization, and encourage you to support them any way you can!

It had been over 25 years since I’d visited Montreal in college. I also had a brief visit there for a TASOK reunion about 15 years ago. But this would be the first time there since the photography world had gone digital. So I decided to spend a few extra days looking for an adventure!

Montreal itself is an incredible city. It’s probably one of my favorites in North America. Like Charleston, the old historic downtown area is quite walk-able. I spent many hours wandering the streets, enjoying the tasty French-Canadian cuisine, and marveling at the incredible architecture…particularly of those ornate cathedrals!

Leaving Montreal, I traveled west in search of wildlife near the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve. I was not disappointed! Next, I headed north towards Parc National du Mont-Tremblent. The town itself is a quaint little tourist stop. But the majestic scenery of the park was surreal. My infra-red camera was perfect for those vistas!

Finally, it was back to Montreal for lunch with my old friend and classmate, Abbas Fazal, then a couple final hours exploring on my way to the airport. Since I hadn’t turned in my rental car yet, I hit up some of the cathedrals along the city outskirts that I couldn’t previously reach on foot…one of which is the oldest in town, built entirely out of wood!

I hope you enjoy these images from my Canadian adventure as much as I enjoyed making them. I hope the wait was worth it!

Southern Current Company Photos

Yesterday I had a really fun photo shoot at Southern Current, South Carolina’s premier solar development company.  If you are looking for a renewable energy solution, these are your people!!!

Going for a casual, modern style to fit the personality of this forward-thinking copmany, we decided on a clean, high-key lighting technique. Everyone was so much fun, and the shoot went absolutely flawlessly!

Many thanks to Maddy and the gang at Obviouslee Marketing for trusting us to create these photos for use in Southern Current’s branding and marketing campaign for 2016.  You guys ROCK!!!

Morgan & Ray at the John Rutledge House Inn

What a pleasure it was to photograph Ray & Morgan’s beautiful blended-family wedding last weekend!

Now living in Mississippi, Ray & Morgan planned a fun winter get-away to Charleston with all their amazing children. They stayed at the old historic John Rutledge House Inn, and arranged for the wedding to take place in the picturesque courtyard out back. Rick Burton did a wonderful job performing the nuptials. Then after the “I Do’s”, we all went for a walk-about downtown, stopping for fun and creative images among the many photogenic spots along the way.

I don’t know if you call it an elopement or a destination wedding.  But whatever it was that Ray & Morgan planned, it was a BLAST!!! Congratulations to you both, and to your family too! It was an absolute honor to share this special day with you!!!

Gillis Family at Hampton Park

It just doesn’t get any cuter than a 2 year old chasing ducks in the park!!! 🙂

Photographing Erin and her extended family over the years has been such a joy to me. From photographing Erin as a girl, to covering her beautiful wedding with Rette, and now coming full circle in photographing THEIR daughter…it’s just such an honor to be a part of this family’s life!

Saylor is absolutely adorable! I was cracking up at all the crazy expressions she has in her repertoir. Congratulations Erin & Rette…you got yourselves a keeper!!!

Business Portraits for Lowery Legal

I had the distinct honor of photographing new Business Portraits for Marie Lowery last week!

Marie was a very kind referral from Scott Falls, who’s head-shots and promotional portraits I photographed last year. Both are amazing attorneys in their respective fields, though often collaborating together together. So when Marie was considering having some new images made to help market and brand herself in 2016, he gave her my name. Thanks Scott & Ashley!!!

Marie and I had an awesome time, finding some fantastic backdrops in the old French Quarter in downtown Charleston. Congratulations on your incredible success, Marie! Here’s to an even more amazing 2016!!!

AM Conservation Group at The Riviera Theater

I always enjoy photographing corporate events…especially the holiday gala’s that are so fun and festive. One of my favorites each year is the AM Conservation Group’s Christmas Party!!! 🙂

As each couple arrives, I photograph a nice Christmas portrait of them. Using our state-of-the-art dye sublimation photo printers, we instantly print them a beautiful 5×7 photo, delivered to their table in an elegant folio for them to take home as a memento of the evening. The instant gratification of this print-on-site service is always a HUGE HIT!!!

Once everyone has arrived and had a cocktail or two, I cover the president’s address. His message is always poignant, and always made memorable with a magic trick or two! Everyone then gathers for a fun group shot before dinner. The remainder of the evening is filled with merriment as everyone enjoys dinner, dancing, and the always-popular gift exchange!

I’ve been photographing this event for 3 years now. Already I’m looking forward to NEXT YEAR’s big party!!!

Elizabeth & Tricia in the French Quarter

Cami & I were so blessed to have Elizabeth Hayes help us with all the financing and paperwork when we closed on our new house two years ago. We can’t recommend her enough to anyone buying a new home! You can find her at Carolina One Mortgage.

It was an honor and a pleasure to meet Elizabeth’s daughter, Tricia, and photograph some mother/daughter portraits for these two. We had a BLAST, exploring all the nooks and crannies of the old historic French Quarter.  We started at Waterfront Park and explored the surrounding area, photographing their fun personalities along the way.

Many thanks to Elizabeth and Tricia for making it such a fun shoot!!! 🙂

Jennifer & Rob at Harborside East

An advanced photographer in his own right, I’ve known Rob for a little while now. As much as I respect his work, to be selected by him to photograph his wedding is a true honor! We had so much fun capturing all the beautiful moments of Rob & Jennifer’s wedding at Harborside East two weeks ago today!!!

While on a mission trip together in Guatemala, Rob carefully selected a special ring, hand-woven by locals from native grasses, to use as a symbolic engagement band. Later in the trip, during a quiet, romantic moment, he asked Jennifer to be his wife! Isn’t that an awesome story?!?

Fast forward to two weeks and we find these two soul-mates exchanged their vows overlooking Charleston Harbor from the beautiful deck at Harborside East. Surrounded by close friends and family, cloaked in God’s love, this time they exchanged gold rings, and pledged eternal commitment to one another.

CONGRATULATIONS Jennifer & Rob! In the words of Solomom, “My beloved is mine and I am his.” Song of Songs 2:16
