A few days ago I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Jessica & Keith’s family portraits on Isle of Palms. I photographed the usual shots on their rental property, then offered to shoot some of them on the beach at no charge. It was a beautiful evening, cooler weather than last week, and an absolutely GORGEOUS sunset to work with. As a bonus, the tide was going out and left all kinds of interesting tidal pools in the soft sand. I asked if everyone was crazy enough to get a little wet, and they were all for it! I LOVE the shots at the end with the reflections from the tidal pool they are sitting in. J Such a neat family…so much fun to hang out with these guys. Enjoy…
It’s quite amazing how many weddings take place in Charleston on any given weekend. So it’s not uncommon for me to bump into another wedding party being photographed by one of my friends. Last weekend I ran into my good friends and fellow photographers Joey & Kasey of Olive Productions at White Point Gardens! I saw them first and squeezed off a couple frames before Joey got the drop on me. J
We are truly honored and look forward to shooting many more weddings there. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Everything ran like clockwork. And it’s just such a beautiful facility to work in. I highly recommend looking at the Daniel Island Club for your next wedding or event.
Our Smith Family Reunion a few weeks ago at Buck Creek State Park in Ohio was a BLAST! It was so nice to take a break and re-connect with family and friends we hadn’t seen in a while. Looks like my brothers and I are just a LITTLE OLDER than in the picture of us in the Congo from a couple posts ago at www.chrisandcami.com/blog. J
The US World Cup victory the other day sure was a cliff-hanger! I never made it…but once upon a time I had dreams of playing in the World Cup (Can you tell which one is me?) J Soccer was my favorite sport growing up in the Congo (DRC). I went on to play for Kalamazoo College. Eventually weak ankles forced me to adopt a less physical sport and I switched to playing tennis. But I still have a passion for “The Beautiful Game”. Jackie & Chris’ wedding has been a long time coming! But through all the ups and downs of Chris’ fight with cancer, the families rallied together and victory was claimed!!! I truly believe the difficult times in life draw us closer and strengthen our bonds beyond measure. I was witness to the evidence of these bonds time and time again throughout Jackie & Chris’ wedding day. It is such an honor and a privilege to have been able to share in this special day with such an AMAZING couple!
Jackie & Chris were married at the gorgeous Sunrise Presbyterian Church on Sullivan’s Island. After the ceremony, we walked across the beach to sink our naked toes in the sand and get some fun shots of the wedding party. Then we joined the PARTAAAAY on the Carolina Girl Yacht. I always love working with Captain Bob and his crew…they are top notch and always make sure everyone has a GREAT time on board!

Even though it’s been a while, it seems like only yesterday that Cami & I worked at High-Purity Standards. That’s where we met and became friends with the vibrant and beautiful Carolyn. We were SO honored that when her and Jeff decided it was time to tie the knot, she asked us to do the honors of photographing her special day! J This will be the FOURTH wedding we’ve photographed for friends from HPS!
Last weekend, Carolyn & Jeff were married underneath the giant Live Oak trees at the picturesque Legend Oaks Plantation Golf Club. Even though rain came and went all afternoon, it parted the way just in time for them to have their ceremony. The weather never dampened anyone’s spirits, we had a BLAST!!! Kirsten is the most AMAZING young lady in the world! Cami & I know her well since she works at our absolutely wonderful dentist’s office, Hilton Dental. I had never met Jason before. But I was very impressed with his quiet strength and funny sense of humor. They have a wonderful son named Reis who was the handsome Ring Bearer and all-around hit of the party! J
Kirsten & Jason were married on Folly Beach in front of the HUGE beach house they’d rented out for the reception. She wore a gorgeous dress that was hand made for her, and had a really cool detachable lace train. He wore the quintessential khaki pants and white cotton shirt…perfect for the outdoors setting. Rev. Pete Lanzillottoy performed a beautiful service. The weather was perfect and the light was just right for some gorgeous shots on the beach with the dramatic glow of the setting sun. In Season Catering kept our mouths watering. Complete Music ROCKED the reception. And everyone had a fantastic time! It was so much fun to be a part if Kirsten & Jason’s wedding. CONGRATULATIONS to the new Mr. & Mrs. Swander!!!
Hillary & Matt are from Indiana and will be getting married in Indianapolis this fall. I had an awesome time photographing their e-session in and around all the historic homes and gardens in downtown Charleston. Matt just came back from doing a tour, performing on a cruise ship in Australia. Since Cami & I have ties with the Land Down Under, and just came back from photographing Dave & Megan’s wedding, we had lots to talk about. Hillary is just the kindest, gentlest, sweetheart in the world…she’s going to be such a beautiful bride!
