Portrait Station at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island

One of the most popular “Photo Entertainment” packages we offer is our famous Portrait Station!

Photo Booths have run their course and are going out of style. They were a fun novelty item when the technology was new. But the difficulty of cramming you and a few friends into a tiny booth…followed by the dissapointment of getting a tine 2×2 inch print of it where you can barely make out each person’s face…totally negates the excitement of getting that instant photo to take home.

We have managed to keep that instant gratification of recieving a photo memento to take home from your event, but TOTALLY taken it to the next level! Compared to a Photo Booth, this is like having a Photo Wall!!! It’s big. It’s bold. It’s fun. It’s professional. And it’s as if that little Photo Booth is all grown up!

We have a variety of professional backgrounds to choose from. You can provide the company’s step-and-repeat. Or you can customize your own backdrop. We provide professional lighting, like what you would get on a supermodel fashion shoot. We include a professional photographer to help with posing and directing so that you LOOK like a supermodel. Plus having a friendly and engaging photographer makes the whole experience more fun! Last but not least, your portaits are printed as beautiful 5×7 prints, which are custome mounted in an elegant black folio with a built-in “kickstand”. This not only protects your portrait, but makes it an awesome keepsake that you can take home and display in your home or office!

If you are having an awards gala, holiday party, corporate event, welcome reception, company meeting, mitzvah, or wedding, and would like to make it something your guests will truly remember, reach out to us on our contact page at https://chrisandcami.com/contact/. We would love to work with you…and you will LOVE the positive feedback from your attendees!!!

Key Risk Management Group on Kiawah Island

Key Risk Management Group held 40th Anniversary celebration at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island last week. The evening started off with a cocktail hour, progressing into the ballroom for dinner, then transitioning to the speeches and awards, and finally to dancing and celebrating. I had the great pleasure of photographing all of it for them, while my good friend Gary photographed and printed 5×7 prints at our Portrait Station!

I used two Z9 cameras to cover this event. One had a Nikkor Z 24-70 f2.8 II mounted on it, while the other had a Nikkor Z 70-180 f2.8. For lighting, I used a Godox V480 on each camera. During cocktail hour, I primarily used bounce-flash. During the dinner banquet, I set up 4 Godox V860 II flashes (one in each corner of the room) to fill the room with nice directional off-camera flash. My friend Gary used a third Nikon Z9 with a Nikkor Z 24-70 f2.8 at the Portrait Station. His lighting consisted of 2 Godox AD200 strobes inside octaboxes.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Lee at Experience Holy City Charleston, who was the planner for the event. Lee always does an AMAZING job…and this one was no exception!!!

Honda True on Kiawah Island

It was a pleasure working with Lee  at Experience Holy City on Kiawah Island this week!

I was photographing all the beautiful details and decor she had created for Honda True, who was holding their annual sales meeting here on Kiawah Island. The first night was for their Welcome Reception in the Terrace Ballroom at The Sanctuary. The second night was at Mingo Point.

Honda True also had me photograph and print couple’s portraits at the Mingo Point Oyster Roast. Since it’s been raining all week, we had to get creative! I had the couples standing just underneath the covered patio area, with the marsh trees draped in Spanish Moss as the backdrop. Since it was a pitch black night, I placed 4 Flashpoint speedlights under the trees (covered in ziploc bags to protect them from the rain), with amber gels on them to give the lights an orange glow. The couples were lit with a Flashpoint eVolv 200 in an octabox. While I photographed the couples, my good friend Gary was making the prints on his DNP DS40 printer. Everyone loved the instant gratification of receiving their portrait that night!

Many thanks to Lee and Amber for making everything run so smoothly!!!

Atlak Family at The Ocean Course

Hailing from New Jersey, it was such a pleasure to photograph the Atlak Family during their “cousins summer vacation” on Kiawah Island! 🙂 Although it rained and stormed most of the day, we decided to go for it that evening. We were rewarded with beautiful light and AMAZING skies. But the best part was getting to know this awesome group of humans! We had so much fun together!!!

Nick & Sarah’s Kiawah Island Engagement

Nick & Sarah are ENGAGED!!!

Early yesterday morning in a secluded stretch of beach, without another soul around, Nick asked Sarah to be his wife. She said YES!!! 🙂 Although they drifted apart after high-school, the two of them have known each other since grade-school. So when they re-connected several years later, it didn’t take long for the spark to re-ignite!

After his surprise proposal, Nick had another secret in his bag of tricks. When he and Sarah returned to the condo, Sarah’s family was there waiting!!! Nick had arranged for his family and her family to fly in to surprise Sarah and help them celebrate the exciting news!

After spending a fun day together as one big family, I met up with them at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island to commemorate the occasion with some authentic engagement photos and a few family portraits! With permanent smiles on their faces from the day’s big events, Sarah & Nick were so much fun to work with!!!

Please help me CONGRATULATE this beautiful young couple as they begin their new journey together…

Hassen Family on Kiawah Island

It always warms my heart to see families getting together for the holidays! With the grandparents flying in from California, and “the kids” driving down from Tennessee, the pandemic keeping them apart for most of last year, I had so much fun capturing these beautiful memories for the Hassen family on the morning of our nation’s birthday!!!

Kurcsak Family Reunion on Kiawah Island

I had so much fun photographing the Kurcsak Family Reunion at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island the other day! I’d photographed Stephanie and her family before. So I was delighted when she called and asked if I would photograph this crazy gang. 🙂 We had a beautiful evening with great light to work with…and had so much fun creating tons of great memories for them to remember this special time together.

PGA Media Day

I had the pleasure of photographing the PGA Championships on Kiawah Island back in 2012…before they ejected me for being where I shouldn’t. Some photographers are so annoying, always trying to be creative and trying to capture something unique. Why can’t they all just shoot the same boring images, from the same exact location as the other 50 photographers out there?!? 😉 Luckily, all is forgiven.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being the official photographer for the 2021 PGA Championships Media Day at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. Julius Mason, Senior Director of Public Awareness for the PGA, hosted the press conference. Special guests included former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, Director of the PGA Championship, Scott Reid, President of Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Roger Warren, and Charleston Mayor, John Tecklenburg.

After an excellent presentation, panel discussion, and Q&A session, everyone was invited to a wonderful networking luncheon. With gloved hands and hightened security, the Wannamaker Trophy was placed on a beautiful wooden table just outside the lunch area where I had set up a photo station. It was a lot of fun photographing participants and seeing the excitement in their eyes as the pose with this historic hardware!

I’m looking forward to seeing some awesome golf in 20201!!!

Earl Klugh’s Kiawah Weekend of Jazz

Returning to photograph Earl Klugh’s 10th Annual Kiawah Weekend of Jazz was an honor and a pleasure! Being surrounded by such incredible music all weekend always lifts my spirits. And being able to capture dramatic images of such legends as Earl Klugh, Gladys Knight, Boney James, Christian McBride, and Kandace Springs gives me goosebumps every time I think about it!

Earl Klugh’s Kiawah Weekend of Jazz

It was an absolute pleasure to be invited back to photograph Earl Klugh’s Weekend of Jazz at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island again this year. I always enjoy photographing this amazing event with my good friend Michael Cyra.

Besides the great Earl Klugh, other amazing artists on the stage included: Chris Botti, Peabo Bryson, Deniece Williams, Patti Austin, Najee, The Rippingtons, Adam Hawley, Al Turner, David Lee on the Rocks, Joe Alterman, and many more! As always, Richard Todd did a great job as Master of Ceremonies.

I’m already excited and looking forward to next year!!!

Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Conference at Kiawah Island

Alvarez & Marsal is the consulting firm known for asking tough questions, listening well, digging in and getting their hands dirty. They are fact-driven and action-oriented. A&M uncovers and implement the right solution, at the right time, in the right way. They provides global leadership, problem solving and value creation for companies across industries and around the world.

This week I had the pleasure of photographing their annual conference at Kiawah Island Resort. All the meetings and social functions took place at The Sanctuary, one of the most amazing event spaces in town. One of my favorite keynote speakers was David Feherty, who enjoyed a successful professional golfing career, earning 10 victories, and competed in the 1991 Ryder Cup.

In addition to all the meetings and networking, the event included a few fun activities. The golf outing at the famed Ocean Course was a huge highlight! With Hurricane Michael bearing down on us, a beautiful window of sunlight opened up just long enough for everyone to complete their rounds on these historic greens.

Many thanks to Michelle and Shanna for including me in this amazing event. It truly was an honor to work with their incredible team!
