Hogg Family at Hampton Park

Cited as the location of the very first Memorial Day celebration, Hampton Park was originally part of Orange Grove Plantation, and later bought by the South Carolina Jockey Club on which to build stables and host a popular horse race. Today it’s the largest park on the Charleston peninsula and one of my favorite locations for portrait sessions!

I had so much fun Friday photographing the Hogg Family at this beautiful park. The flowers were in bloom, the summer foliage was full, the huge oaks were as mighty as ever! Now living in Nevada, James is originally from England, and Jacquiline’s heritage comes from the Netherlands. I always enjoy meeting such unique families who have traveled the world!

It was an honor and a pleasure getting to know them and their amazing kids as we enjoyed this wonderful summer evening together in Charleston!!!

Savannah’s Senior Portraits

We’ve known Savannah and her family for years!!! It’s been such a pleasure watching Savannah grow from this adorable little girls into the beautiful young ladies she’s become. So it was with great honor that I got to photograph her Senior Portraits last evening! We are so proud of Savannah and all that she’s accomplished. Clemson is lucky to have her!!! šŸ™‚

Izzy & Chance’s Senior Portrait Sessions

I love photographing Senior Portrait Sessions. But what’s even more fun is when I get to photograph a double-session for an AMAZING couple like Izzy & Chance!!!

I was so excited when Tena and Tammy (Izzy & Chance’s parents) called to set up a double photo shoot for these two. They are all from Thomson, GA, and had planned a family get-away this weekend. They thought it would be really cool to get some amazing photos of their kids that would be unique and different from the ones Izzy & Chance’s friends were getting back home. What a cool idea!

After driving into Charleston Friday afternoon, I met up with both families at Folly Beach for Part 1 of their photo shoot. We had decided to do some beach portraits. I love Folly Beach County Park for its perfect views of the sunset. We lucked out with a gorgeous evening and a fantastic sunset!

The next morning we all met at White Point Garden for Part 2. This was a great location from which to explore the heart of old historic downtown Charleston. We had a fun walk-about as we discovered great avenues of trees, black iron gates, and old brick walls to use for backdrops. As a grand-finale, we also zipped over to Rainbow Row to mix in some of those cotton-candy colored houses.

Izzy was so beautiful and had such a delightful smile. Chance was quite dashing and so much fun. We all had a BLAST and came away with some wonderful images to preserve this special time in their lives.Ā  CONGRATULATIONS Izzy & Chance!!!

Muro Family on Isle of Palms

Every year I look forward with great anticipation to hanging out with and photographing the amazing Muro clan during their vacation to Isle of Palms!

We got rained out the night before, but quickly pivoted to this morning. It turned out to be a glorious day! The kids were all excited and full of energy. The sun finally peaked out from between the thunderclouds.Ā  We all had so much fun!Ā  šŸ™‚

Many thanks to Susan for all her hard work corralling and organizing this crazy crew!!!

Johnston Family on Isle of Palms

Originally from the Greenville area, like most extended families these days the Johnstons are now all spread out. Individuals are following their dreams, from a Physical Therapist in Bristow to a dentist in Spartanburg, from a computer engineer in San Antonio to an attorney in Greenville. But they all come together once a year to re-connect those family ties!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with them at their beach house on IOP yesterday to capture some fun family memories. In addition to the usual family photos, we also celebrated Brook and her friends graduating college. Congratulations to them as they embark on a new journey following THEIR dreams!

It was a beautiful evening and I had a great time getting to know the three sisters and their families. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this year’s reunion, Susan, Stacey, and Cara!!!

Portraits of the Sevier Boys

It’s been a real joy for Cami and I to know Kevin and Nikki Sevier since they were just a young newlywed couple. Watching their relationship blossom, and their family grow, has been very special for us. All grown up now, I had the distinct honor of photographing their two handsome young men at their grandparent’s beautiful home overlooking the Stono River last evening.Ā  Even though boys don’t exactly love having their portrait made, these guys did great and we had a blast!Ā  šŸ™‚

Natalie’s Senior Portraits

Natalie is a bright, beautiful, and bubbly young lady!

It’s hard to believe that Scott & Sheri’s little girl is all grown up. Where does the time go!?! But we had a BLAST this weekend, photographing some wonderful Senior Portraits for this amazing girl with a big heart and a bright personality!

CONGRATULATIONS Natalie! We wish you all the joy in the world as you complete your senior year of high-school, and embark on whatever wonderful journey lies ahead!!!

Abby’s Model Portfolio

The daughter of a friend of ours, Abby was in town to model for Charleston Fashion Week. During some down time, we photographed a portfolio session for her at the old abandoned Naval Hospital.Ā  It also gave me a chance to really test the limits of the astounding new Nikon D850!

The Charleston Naval Hospital Historic District is nationally significant as an example of the United States effort to mobilize medical support for the Navy during World Wars I and II. Now neglected and in dis-repair, it once exemplifies the Navy’s ability to create a permanent and professional medical service for Navy personnel and their dependents.Ā  The complex is an intact collection of thirty-two buildings located in the northwest corner of the former Charleston Navy Base.

Abby was so much fun to work with!Ā  She is a beautiful young lady, both inside and out!Ā  And she has a very unique look.Ā  I can see why she’s so popular on the runway!!!Ā  We had a great time exploring the area, and coming up with some killer images for her to add to her portfolio.

Beetlejuice Fashion Shoot

Reid is one of my FAVORITE “creative collaborators” in Charleston!!!Ā  She is so artistic and has such a great sense of humor!

One day while out exploring on my motorcycle, I found this amazing old church ruins with a decaying piano in the middle of the sanctuary. I pitched the idea of a fun fashion shoot to Reid. She loved it!Ā  Wrangling her three beautiful daughters, Sydney, Jackie, and Trinity to model for us, the game was on. They brought their beautiful pet boa constrictors, great props like the vase of old dead roses, and some outlandish outfits from places like Goodwill and who-knows-where!

We had an absolute BLAST and came away with a fun collection of images. Many thanks to Reid and our three gorgeous models!!!

Amelia’s Senior Portraits

We’ve been best friends with Byron & Kathleen for a looong time. We don’t want to date ourselves, but we’ve known them since the BAE…”Before Amelia Era”!!! šŸ˜‰

As you can imagine, it’s been a real joy of ours to watch Amelia grow from adorable baby, to cute little girl, and now into the beautiful young lady she’s become! We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing, kind, and giving human being she’s grown into!!!

For something fun and different, Byron, Kathleen, and Amelia joined us for a weekend get-away in Maggie Valley to photograph Amelia’s Senior Portraits. True to the White/Smith tradition, IT RAINED! You see, the number of camping trips and expeditions we’ve been on together, it’s astounding how often it rains. It was only fitting that it rain on this one too. But we don’t think of it as a curse. We think of it as an adventure!

And so, with an ADVENTURE in mind, we forged ahead with our plans to meet in picturesque Cataloochee Valley to photograph Amelia. As a bonus, we got to see a herd of elk grazing in one of the fields. But the real thrill was hanging out with this wonderful family, and capturing beautiful images of their amazing daughter!!!

Thanks for another great expedition, Byron, Kathleen, and Amelia. We can’t wait to see what great things God has in store for you, Amelia! We are so proud of you.

Lawson’s Senior Portraits

Lawson is an incredibly smart, kind, and beautiful young lady! Her easy-going personality and naturally quiet demeanor has a calming effect on everyone around her. And when that infectious smile bursts out, you can’t help but be happy inside! Lawson plays golf on her high-school team, and is hoping to study law when she goes to college.

Yesterday I had a really fun mentoring session with my friends Geno and Tyler. They were kind enough to teach me how to fly their drones. So I returned the favor by sharing some photography tips. Lawson was kind enough to accept the challenge of being our super model for the afternoon as we worked on our techniques. What a brave girl!!! šŸ˜‰

We started our fun fashion shoot off at Hampton Park…later progressing to Brittlebank Park for the sunset. It was a gorgeous day, and Lawson was absolutely STUNNING!!! It was an honor and a pleasure to capture some creative Senior Portraits for this amazing young lady!
