Wingard Family at Higgins Pier

This week’s “Porchaits” session doesn’t take place on a porch at all. In our continuing series of Porch Portraits during this time of social-distancing, Melissa & David asked if we could do their session on Higgins Pier.

The pier is located at the end of the West Ashley Bikeway. Their family lives nearby, frequently bringing the kids down to this park for quiet walks. They have a lot of great memories here. So we thought it would be the PERFECT place for their candid family session!

Unfortunately when we arrived, the pier was already too full, making social-distancing impossible. Instead, we took advantage of the beautiful light and picturesque scenery along the bike path…even venturing underneath the pier for something fun and unique!

Shooting with telephoto lenses to keep our distance, we still had so much fun with Melissa and David and their adorable kids!Ā  We can still have fun in spite of the limitations of this COVID-19 pandemic, right?!?Ā  šŸ™‚

Jameel & Jason are Expecting!!!

I had so much fun photographing Jameel & Jason’s seaside wedding at Folly Beach last year. They are such an amazing couple, and so much fun to be around! So imagine my excitement when they called to tell me they were EXPECTING!!! šŸ™‚

With downtown Charleston being practically empty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to meet at Washington Square Park to photograph a maternity shoot to commemorate this special time in their lives! It was kind of eerie at first wandering about the park, City Hall, The Hibernian Hall, down Chalmers Street with its picturesque cobble stones, The Dock Street Theater, and up Broad Street with out hardly seeing a soul. But honestly, it ended up being kind of refreshing to have the place to ourselves!

We had a fantastic time, wandering the streets and alleys around the French Quarter, laughing and joking the whole time, while capturing these beautiful photographs of this wonderful couple! CONGRATULATIONS Jemeel & Jason!!! You guys are going to be such amazing parents.Ā  šŸ™‚

Porch Portraits with the Roberts Family

If you don’t have an AMAZING eye-doctor already, I highly recommend Dr. Lori at Belle Hall Eye Care! That’s who I choose to take care of my eyes and she’s fantastic.

A few days ago I had the privilege of photographing Porch Portraits or “Porchaits” for her and her amazing daughter. We had so much fun, capturing photos of Ellie playing with their chickens, horses, cats and dogs. šŸ™‚ Using telephoto lenses, I was able to shoot all these from over 6 feet away while keeping my social-distancing and helping to flatten the curve.

Dr. Lori and Ellie are such beautiful young ladies, both inside and out. It was such an honor preserving these memories for them!!!

Porch Portraits with the Caloudas Family

We’ve been good friends with Meghann & Greg since we were neighbors several years ago! From photographing their fur-baby, Sasha, to capturing their engagement photos on their boat in Charleston Harbor, to preserving all the beautiful moments of their their wedding…it’s always been a pleasure being a part of their lives. Ever since they moved to Daniel Island, we sure have missed their company!

After the COVID-19 pandemic began, many photographers started offering Porch Portraits (or “Porchaits”) around the country: https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2020/04/01/coronavirus-front-porch-photo-projects-show-how-families-cope/2928577001/. We haven’t been able to offer any. But when Meghann & Greg invited us to come over for a visit, and to shoot a few porch portraits while we were there, we loved the idea! While keeping our social-distancing by staying on the sidewalk and yard, we used telephoto lenses to photograph their beautiful growing family.Ā  Hudson is absolutely the happiest and most adorable little boy I’ve ever met!Ā  šŸ™‚

Afterwards we hung out and had a blast catching up. Hudson fell asleep. The moon climbed into the sky. And I got to photograph an immature bald eagle nearby.

THANK YOU so much for the lovely evening, Meghann & Greg! We will always cherish your friendship!!!

Smith Family in Hiawassee

For the holidays, Cami and I were able to get together with two of my three brothers and their families. We drove up to Dan and Linda’s house in Hiawassee, GA. A day later, my brother Eric and his family from Ohio also joined us there.

We had a great time catching up with everyone, playing games, watching old reruns of Star Wars episodes, and going on fun hikes. It was a fun few days of rejuvenating old family bonds.

The only regret was that our brother, Brian, and his family couldn’t be there. But we were able to Facetime with Brian and my parents while he was visiting them in California!

Allen Family Christmas Photo

I’ve known the Allen family since their kids were knee-high to a grasshopper!
Ā
It was so much fun catching up with them, and photographing their family Christmas Portrait this year.Ā  This willĀ be the last one before their son goes off to college, which is hard to believe!! Have I really been a professional photographer for THAT LONG?!?Ā  We all had a blast together. They are such a beautiful family. And I particularly enjoyed seeing how grown-up their kids have gotten.
Ā
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Everyone…

Prioleau Family at Hampton Park

In my younger days, I played on a tennis team at the Maybank Tennis Center with my good friend Jeff. His wife, Toni, is the tennis pro out there. Their son, Ryan, played on the pro tour for a little while. And their daughter, Kristen, now plays out of Maybank.

It was so great catching up with all of them (minus Ryan who lives in the upstate), during their family Christmas photo session at Hampton Park. This was also our first time meeting Kristen’s wonderful husband, Tony, and their beautiful daughter, Charlotte!

We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day, and had so much fun capturing these beautiful memories for our friends.Ā  We love you guys!Ā  šŸ™‚

Holmes Family at The Timbers on Kiawah Island

We couldn’t have asked for a prettier day, or a more amazing family to work with!Ā  A few days ago, Cami and I met up with the Holmes family at The Timbers on Kiawah Island. It was a perfect, sunny, 67-degree day, with no wind, and no bugs. How could it get any better? Well, if you throw in a beautiful couple from Ohio, their wonderful parents from Florida, and three absolutely ADORABLE kids…that’s how! šŸ™‚

The Scott Family at Christ Our King

Last evening was some of the prettiest fall weather we’ve had all year. It was absolutely perfect for the Scott Family’s portrait session at Christ Our King Catholic Church!

I met up with The Scott’s at their church, just as the sun was starting to turn that perfect warm golden color. Taking advantage of the picturesque gardens behind the church, we found tons of great backdrops, and photographed a wonderful variety of fun portraits for them. Their three girls were absolutely ADORABLE!!! And the addition of their grandparents, who were down here visiting from Connecticut, made it even more special.

Many thanks to Beth for all her hard work in coordinating everyone’s busy schedules! šŸ™‚

Girl’s Weekend on Kiawah Island

One of the best parts of my job is meeting new, interesting, and FUN people!!!

This weekend, I had such a great time photographing this wonderful group of life-long friends, who all get together one weekend every year to catch up on each other’s lives, build new memories, and invest in the beautiful relationships they build over the years. For this year’s theme, they each decided to dress up as a different “month” of the year. Then everyone changed and we did a few patriotic themes. Last but not least, everyone just jumped in the pool for something really fun!

I love it when grown-ups choose to remember the value of being a kid at heart again! šŸ™‚
