It’s been such a joy to be friends with Dana over the years. Watching her become the amazing dentist she is, and seeing her open the doors of this fabulous dentistry practice, has been so exciting!

It was an honor and a pleasure to photograph their new head-shots, business portraits, and marketing material the other day. You couldn’t ask for a nicer group of folks to work with. I highly recommend Dana and her team at Daniel Island Denstistry!!!

Moyer Family on Isle of Palms

What a beautiful evening we had for beach portraits last night near Wild Dunes on IOP!

Vacationing from Ohio, Ashley & Jarod’s grils were simply adorable. A special thank you goes out to her sister, Lauren, for all her help making them laugh and giggle. I had an absolute BLAST with the Moyer Family and can’t wait to watch those girls grow into beautiful young ladies over the years!

I’m already looking forward to our next shoot together…  😉

Johnson & Wales Alumni Reception

Johnson & Wales University is an American private, nonprofit, co-educational, career-oriented university with four regional campuses located throughout the United States. Founded as a business school in 1914 by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales, JWU now has over 17,000 students enrolled in Business, Arts & Sciences, Culinary Arts, Education, Engineering, Equine management, Hospitality, and Engineering Technology programs across its campuses.

I’ve had the privilege of photographing corporate events and company gatherings for JWU over the years. Their Alumni Receptions are always my favorites! This one at Restaurant 492 was no exception!!!

Hopsewee Plantation in Infrared

Hopsewee Plantation was built in 1735 overlooking the North Santee River near Georgetown, South Carolina. It was the birthplace of Thomas Lynch, Jr., a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Originally a lowcountry rice plantation producing Carolina Gold, like many plantations at the time, it was abandoned during the Civil War.

It’s only been owned by 5 families in it’s 250+ year history! Today, the house continues to be a private residence, but is open to the public for tours. I met up here last week with my brother, Brian, and his family, who were on vacation from Ohio. We had a wonderful time together, enjoying lunch at the Hopsewee Tea Room…one of the top rated tea rooms in the country.

The scenic location provided the perfect opportunity to capture some more southern charm in Infrared.  The images were photographed with my specially converted Nikon Coolpix A.  It’s been modified to photograph the infrared spectrum of light at 720nm, which is beyond the normal human visual spectrum.

Just Kenzie Jewelry

This week I had the privilege of photographing new catalog and marketing images for Just Kenzie Jewlry! Every piece in the Just Kenzie Collection is a unique creation. Each one is hand made right here in Charleston. I highly recommend checking her out at www.justkenzie.com or stopping in her gallery at The Art Mecca of Charleston.

Many thanks to our beautiful model, Rachel. Putting up with the high heat, biting bugs, and pushy photographer with grace and style, Rachel was a trooper and a real professional!  Of course we goofed off and had a lot of fun as well…but that’s another story.  😉

The Hines Family on Hilton Head Island

It’s been three years since me met up with the Howe-Hines family on their last vacation to Hilton Head Island. Last time we photographed their portraits, they had one high-school senior in the group. This year they had THREE! It’s amazing how time flies!!! 🙂

What a pleasure to see them again, spend time together, catch up, and capture some fun photos for everyone!!!

Mary & Jan’s After-Shoot

After having so much fun at Mary & Jan’s gorgeous wedding, I was SUPER EXCITED that they’d opted to do an After-Shoot!

Wedding day images are always limited by time and space. So often, a couple’s wedding schedule becomes hectic and chaotic, not allowing them to get all the beautiful images they’d like. And even the shots they do get, seem rushed. The backdrop of all their photos is usually limited to the church and the reception site. Plus of course, there’s the issue of keeping the wedding gown clean for the day.

For these reasons, our After-Shoots have become super popular! Couples join me for a fun, relaxed, fashion shoot after the wedding. It can be the day after, or weeks later after they return from the honeymoon. We pick a different and unique location that’s special to them. And since the dress has already danced the night away, we don’t have to worry about it as much!

Mary & Jan choose a beautiful area in and around White Point Garden and The Battery. Since they met and fell in love in Charleston, they wanted to capture the beauty of the old historic city in some of their images. Although we got some amazing shots on their wedding day…from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, to a stop at McLeod Plantation on their way to the reception, to the Country Club of Charleston…the gorgeous images we got with the backdrop of downtown Charleston will round out their wedding photos perfectly!

“Gratulacje” and “Dziękuję bardzo” to the new Mr. & Mrs. Vargas Machaj!!!

Davey’s Personalized Handbags

Davey’s was founded in 1954 as a family-run leather and nylon bag company by a husband and wife team that loved to travel. They combined their wanderlust with the masterful craftsmanship of New England equestrian harness makers to create stylish bags with preppy flair that are versatile enough for any adventure. Today, Davey’s instills that same quality and heritage into modern, trendy bags for the girl on the go.

Last week I had a really cool shoot for Davey’s Handbags. I thoroughly enjoy product photography…playing with colors, textures and lighting to make the subject pop!

Tri-County Housing Summit

The South Carolina Community Loan Fund held their annual Tri-County Housing Summit this week. It’s been a pleasure to work with this organization over the years and see all the good they are doing in the Charleston community.

This year’s summit was even bigger than the last. Joseph Minicozzi was an incredible key-note speaker and raised some really intriguing thoughts for discussion. Everyone left invigorated,  energized, and ready to make changes that improve the world we live in.

Interior Design for Alexandre Fleuren

My first shoot for Alexandre Fleuren Interiors was back in 2009. Shortly after that, Alex took a break from interior design as her husband, who is in the military, was assigned a new position out of state.

Now she’s back, updating her website, and business is booming again! She is so incredibly talented, has an amazing eye for detail, and her style incorporates true functionality into each project! I highly recommend contacting Alex for your next next fun design…

Interior, Architecture, and Landscaping for Solaris Inc

My amazingly talented friends at Solaris Inc just did a major sun-room addition to a beautiful home I shot for them a couple years ago. It was so much fun to go back and see all the changes!

Interior and architecture photography presents a very unique set of challenges. Figuring out the perfect angles, solving the issues of glare and reflection in the windows, and slowing down the photographic process to truly capture the “feel” of a space are all a part of what I enjoy so much about interior and architectural photography!
