Sommer’s Bridal Portraits

One of the hardest things about photographing beautiful bridal portraits is having to wait so long before I can share them!

Now that Sommer and Frank are married, here are a few of my favorite shots from Sommer’s amazing bridal session in the Murray Center at 14 George Street. Her wedding gown is an antique, worn by her mother on her wedding day. It was not only elegant, but also very fragile. This historic interior space above the Spoleto office was the perfect location to showcase the dress, while keeping it clean and safe for the wedding day.

We had so much fun with Sommer and her mom and aunt who came to help. Sommer was absolutely stunning. And the pictures came out incredible!!!

Julia’s Bridal Portraits

Julia & Woods tied the knot yesterday. That means that I can FINALLY share a few favorites from Julia’s gorgeous bridal session!!! 🙂

Several months ago, Julia, her sister, her mom, and her grandmother all met up with me at Middleton Place, where we had received approval to photograph her bridal shoot. It was a beautiful summer evening. And Julia was absolutely STUNNING!!!  We had so much fun exploring the picturesque grounds, and photographing a variety of portraits for Julia in her elegant wedding gown.  Many thanks to the amazing staff at Middleton Place for allowing us this privilege.

Congratulations Julia & Woods! Rachel…you are next!!!  😉

Tatjana & Scott ‘s Wedding at St. John’s Parish

The title of this story could be “From Germany with Love”. 🙂

Hailing from Deutschland, Tatjana has her masters degree in education, but also a minor in photography. So the two of us hit it off right away!!! She and Scott met in Greenville, where he was doing his medical residency. They soon fell in love! But his roots are right here in Charleston. Naturally, when he moved back to Charleston to work in the ER, Tatjana came with him and their relationship blossomed!

Tatjana & Scott were married in a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony, led by Scott’s childhood friend, now pastor at St. John’s Parish. The flock of adorable flower girls nearly stole the show. But when Tatjana in her gorgeous gown entered on her father’s arm, with the magical afternoon sun glowing through the windows behind them, it was a heart-stopping experience!

A picturesque low-country reception followed at Scott’s family home on the banks of the Wadmalaw River. The setting sun, the clear-top wedding tent, the amazing band, the delicious food, and of course the delightful friends and family who came out to help these two celebrate their special day…all made for an INCREDIBLE evening!

Many thanks to my friends at Sposa Bella for recommending us to Tatjana and Scott. Also, a huge thank you to my amazing second-shooter Laura. CONGRATULATIONS Tatjana & Scott! Prost!!!

Möge dir dein Weg leicht werden
Möge dir der Wind immer von hinten kommen
Möge dir die Sonne warm ins Gesicht scheinen
Möge dir ein sanfter Regen auf die Felder fallen
und bis wir uns wiedersehen
möge Gott dich in seiner Hand halten.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Olman’s Bridal Shoot

Now that Olman & Craig are married, I can FINALLY share some of her gorgeous Bridal Portraits from downtown Charleston!!!

Believe it or not, it was a dreary and drizzly afternoon. But since Olman & Craig had driven all the way from Atlanta to get these portraits, we had to work around it. Fortunately, I have a few tricks up my sleeve…favorite locations that are dry and covered…lighting techniques to mimic warm sunshine…and equipment that can withstand the weather. 🙂

Olman has such a positive spirit, her mom and best friend Maricar were great support, and we all actually had a BLAST creating these beautiful images together!

Downtown Charleston Bridal Shoot

Lisa & Clay were finally married last weekend.  So it’s safe for me to finally reveal some of Lisa’s gorgeous Bridal Portraits from her shoot in charming downtown CharlestonJ  I posted some of their really cool Engagement Portraits here:  https://chrisandcami.com/blog/2010/03/29/lisa-clay-rock-bowens-island/.  But I just couldn’t post any with Lisa’s dress until now for fear of Clay “snooping” around to get a peek at her dress!  Just kidding…Clay would never do that.

Karina’s Getting Married!

Karina & her “entourage” met me over at Boone Hall Plantation earlier this week.  I’m not actually photographing her wedding, but was SO HONORED when she asked if I would do her Bridal Shoot.  Karina is a beautiful, spirit-filled young lady…so full of life and love!  It was a joy just being with her and sharing this special time in her life with her.  I love how elegant she looks, even when she’s leaning on her fiance’s guitar!!!  J

Jody’s Bridal Portraits

I had an AWESOME TIME photographing Jody’s Bridal Portraits a couple weeks ago! We drove down to Walterboro where we had received permission to photograph at Bonnie Doone Plantation. It’s such a beautiful place with the most dreamy Spanish Moss covered oaks! On top of that, Jody’s dad brought along his amazing new Dodge Charger. I couldn’t help doing a few poses with the bright red muscle car juxtaposed against the soft green tapestry and draped with a beautiful bride in her flowing white gown! 🙂 Jody was so much fun to work with. I can’t WAIT to photograph her and Gerald’s wedding!!!

Adrienne’s Bridal Portrait

I photographed Adrienne’s Bridal Portraits the other day. Isn’t she UNBELIEVABLY beautiful?!? We got so many awesome images from her shoot! This was one of the very first ones.

I loved how this shaft of late afternoon sunlight was making the fuzzy ferns glow. So while she was in the changing room, I had figured out that I wanted to place her here where her veil would get that same angelic rim light. Then I popped up a Nikon SB-800 in a small EZ-Box on a Bogen 3333 lightstand off to her left. (Ask me why her left next time you see me.)

Here’s the “before” without the SB-800. I had a slight warming filter on the remote flash and triggered it via a set of Radio Poppers. They were shot with a Nikon D3 and 70-200 f2.8.

Bridal Portraits at The Cistern

One of the hardest things about Bridal Portraits is that I don’t get to share them with everyone until AFTER the wedding…that can be MONTHS after the shoot! Well, now that Tom & Lauren are married I just have to share a couple of cool shots from her session at The Cistern. As a College of Charleston graduate, this is a meaningful spot for her. As a “creative”, this is a favorite spot for me! 🙂
