Global Ethanol Summit Reception in Washington D.C.

This past week, I had the opportunity to capture the vibrant energy and key moments of the Global Ethanol Summit in Washington D.C. The conference was hosted by the US Grains & BioProducts Council at the Capital Hilton from October 19-22. As a destination event photographer, it was inspiring to document such a pivotal gathering of industry leaders, experts, and innovators in the renewable energy sector. From engaging keynote speeches to insightful panel discussions, every shot aimed to tell the story of this important trade program!

The final closing reception at the National Building Museum was the crown highlight of the event!!! Since it was created in 1980 through an act of Congress, the National Building Museum has transformed the public’s understanding of the impact of architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction, planning, and design. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and special events, they welcome visitors of all ages to experience stories about the built world and its power to shape our lives, our communities, and our future. For this special high-class evening, everyone arrived dressed to the nines. The great hall was decked out to match, with beautiful uplighting and delightful decorations. The evening included amazing acrobatic performances, a rousing speach from USGBC president Ryan LeGrand, and a scrumptous meal!

The GES brought together stakeholders from around the globe to discuss advancements, policies, and collaborations in ethanol production and use. Attendees from over 40 countries, including policymakers, researchers, and business leaders, shared strategies for expanding renewable fuel markets and reducing environmental impact. The dynamic atmosphere was marked by purposeful conversations and forward-thinking ideas, all captured through my lens to highlight the significance of this industry-driving event.

Photographing the Global Ethanol Summit was a rewarding experience, offering a chance to document the future of sustainable energy and industry collaboration. Many thanks to my friends and colleagues at the US Grains & BioProducts Council for trusting me to capture the story of this engaging event!

Peaceful Washington D.C.

With an upcoming assignment in D.C., I took an early morning flight to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Arriving at the Capital Hotel, where the conference would take place, it was way too early to check in. So I left my luggage with the bell hop, grabbed my trusty Nikon Zf, and headed out for a peaceful stroll around our nation’s capital. Following the light, I meandered over to Farragut Square, down to Lafayette Square (pausing briefly in front of the White House where a few other tourists were quietly snapping selfies), up to McPherson Square, and back to the hotel.

It was a pleasant morning. And the light was beautiful. All images shot with Nikon Zf and Nikkor Z 24-120 f4…which is my favorite “walk-around” setup.

ECCO for Harbor Contracting with Gritty Gal Marketing

This week I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful new project for Habror Contracting. Alex was the lead on this build for East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO). He did an amazing job!

Founded as an emergency relief effort in 1989 after Hurricane Hugo’s devastation, ECCO has since grown into a permanent resource for the community with three main service areas: Assistance (essential services ECCO provides to local neighbors facing financial hardship), Guidance (the system of support provided to clients along their path to opportunity), and Resources (connecting clients to a network of community partners who can help on their journey towards achieving personal goals).

But the best part of photographing this assignment was that I got to reconnect with Jenny, who’s beautiful wedding I photographed a dozen years ago (YIKES…am I getting old?!?). Jenny and Nate were absolutely fantastic to work with back then. Fast forward to today, and Jenny runs a hugely successful firm called Gritty Gal Marketing. If you need any kind of marketing, contact Jenny at www.grittygalmarketing.com. She was such a pleasure to collaborate with. And she even showed up on the job site so we could catch up. Going above and beyond like that for her clients is part of what makes Jenny so amazing!!!

Madison & Justin’s Wedding at The Citadel

Madison & Justin are the sweetest couple you could ever hope to meet!!!

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing their nuptials at Summerall Chapel on The Citadel Campus this past weekend. The weather was dreary. But the love between these two brightened the chapel and warmed everyone’s hearts! Plus the rain let up just enough at the very end for a fun group photo with all their guests…which was one of Madison’s special requests. Plus we captured some dramatic shots of the beautiful couple on The Quad in front of Justin’s barracks.

CONGRATULATIONS to Madison & Justin!!! We wish you all the best as you begin this new journey together…

Headshots for Trident Construction

I always enjoy heading out to Trident Construction’s headquarters in North Charleston to photograph headshots for new team members. Here are a few fun shots and behind-the-scene images to share a little bit of what we captured!
(Nikon Z9, Nikkor Z 70-200 f2.8 S, Godox AD200 Pro flashes, Westcott umbrellas, Manfrotto supports, Sony memory cards, Savage seamless background)

Kaitlin & Steven’s Wedding at Founder’s Hall

What an absolute honor it was to photograph Kaitlin & Steven’s touching ceremony and beautiful wedding at Founder’s Hall in Charles Towne Landing!!!

This day was particularly special because I also photographed the weddings of Steven’s two sisters.  Which means I’ve spent a lot of time with Steven, his parents, and his family over the years…and I love them all to pieces.  But throughout the process of preparing for this special day, I have TRULY enjoyed getting to know Steven’s beautiful bride, Kaitlin!  The three of us had so much fun at their engagement session.  And I got to see Kaitlin’s “adventurous” side during her amazing bridal session.  She is such a delightful human inside and out, with a kind and giving soul, an infectious laugh, and a smile that lights up the room and lifts the hearts of eveyone around her!

Please enjoy these moments from the story of their wedding day.  And help me say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Kaitlin & Steven.  We wish you all the best as you begin your new journey together!!!

Charleston Animal Society Applause for Paws

The Charleston Animal Society held their annual Applause for Pause fundraiser last night at the elegantly decorated Gaillard Center! With over 550 attendees, this year’s event was called the Emerald City Gala…paying homage to Doroty and the Wizard of Oz. It was an AMAZING evening of entertainment and excitement, celebrating the organization’s 150th anniversary, and raising a record amount of donations for such a worthy cause.

In 1874, Charleston Animal Society was formed as the first animal protection organization in South Carolina and one of the first in the nation. Its purpose was then, and has always been, to prevent cruelty to animals. Almost 20,000 animals will turn to Charleston Animal Society for caring, compassion and hope this year alone. More than just an animal shelter, the Charleston Animal Society is a thought leader in the welfare and well-being of animals. In addition to caring for homeless animals, from hamsters to horses, adopting pets into new homes, and reuniting lost pets with their families, the organization responds to animals in crisis as a result of both man-made and natural disasters.

Many thanks to Sydney for bringing me along to capture this wonderful evening of celebration, compassion, and hope!!!

Madeline & Logan’s Casstown Wedding

What an absolute pleasure it was to photograph Madeline & Logan’s gorgeous wedding on a beautiful farm in Casstown, OH!!!

Madeline’s mother is Cami’s best friend from high-school. When Noelle told Cami about Madeline’s engagement to Logan, we JUMPED at the chance to photograph it. And I’m so glad we did!!!

The wedding was held on a friend’s farm in Casstown, Ohio…not too far from where Madeline grew up on her parent’s horse farm in Troy. The farm was absolutely perfect…fully decked out and decorated for the Big Day!

After getting ready, Madeline and Logan had a private No-Look ceremony under the giant oak in the front yard, where they exchanged private vows that they had written to one another. Then Madeline had a fun Dress Reveal with all her bridesmaids, and a touching First Look with her dad and her brother.

Madeline’s family includes 3 giant Great Danes. Just because they have 4 legs instead of 2, doesn’t mean they are any less important. So of course Oscar, Oakley, and Winston were made official groomsmen, complete with bowties, and escorted to their places by 3 of the bridesmaids. Being a competitive horse rider, it was so perfect that Madeline and her parents arrived at the main ceremony in a classic horse-drawn carraige. Tears welled up in Logan’s eyes as he saw his bride for the first time, stepping off the carraige, beaming with joy as she walked down the aisle in her elegant gown.

The reception was held in a giant tent on the property. With touching toasts, an auctioneer letting the highest bidding table be first to go to the buffet line, a fun cake cutting, and an awesome band keeping the party going all night long…everyone had an amazing time!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Madeline & Logan! We wish you all the best as you begin your new journey together…
