Awards Banquet for US Foods Lexington

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Annual Awards Gala for US Foods of Lexington! This year’s event was held inside the Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes Resort, and once again, it was an unforgettable evening. This high-society banquet brought together an incredible group of professionals to celebrate excellence, leadership, and achievement within the organization. The atmosphere was elegant, energetic, and full of well-deserved recognition.

One of the highlights of the evening was the special awards presentations led by the new president of US Foods Lexington, Steve Boggan. His remarks set a thoughtful and inspiring tone for the night, making the celebrations feel both meaningful and forward-looking. From heartfelt speeches to candid moments of celebration, the event offered no shortage of powerful storytelling opportunities through my photography.

To document the gala, I worked with a dual-camera setup to ensure I could capture every moment in rapid succession. I used a Nikon Zf paired with the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 II for versatility and beautiful low-light performance, alongside a Nikon Z9 with the Nikkor Z 70-180mm f/2.8 for tighter compositions during presentations. For dramatic, super-wide room shots that showcased the scale and elegance of the venue, I occasionally swapped in the Nikkor Z 14-30mm f/4. Lighting was key for this event. I strategically placed six Godox V860II remote flashes around the room to create consistent, flattering light, while a Godox V480 on each camera provided flexibility for on-the-move moments.

Plus my good friend, Gary, set up a fantastic Portrait Station, where guests could get their couple’s photos taken.  He used an elegant silver sequin backdrop, beautifully lit by two Godox AD200 flashes in soft boxes.  He shot tethered with a Nikon Z9 and Nikkor Z 24-70 f2.8 lens.  The workhourse DNP printers pumped out 5x7s, which were then mounted in black folios, and placed on tables for guests to take home as their party favors at the end of the evening!

This marked my third year photographing the Annual Awards Gala for US Foods Lexington, and it is always an absolute pleasure working with their team. I’m grateful for their continued trust, and am already looking forward to next year’s celebration!!!

Johnson Family on Isle of Palms

Remember a little while back when I shared Hunter & Sydney’s AMAZING surprise proposal?!?  https://chrisandcami.com/hunter-sydneys-surprise-proposal-at-white-point-garden/.

Well, Hunter got is papers and was deployed to a submarine based on the west coast. He’s been hard at work, preserving our freedom and serving his country with honor! Now his ship is returning to port and it’s time for Sydney to join him.

Before Sydney and her mom embark on a big cross-country trip to get her moved to California, they wanted to get one last family portrait session together! We met at The Citadel Beach Club on Isle of Palms on a beautiful blue-sky day. Everyone looked amazing! We had so much fun capturing a variety of shots of Sydney and her sisters, the family together, and of course their adorable grandson, Tanner!

Sydney, we wish you all the best for a safe journey and a joyful reunion with your best friend and the love of your life, Hunter!

The Muro Family on Isle of Palms

The Muro Family is like my second family! I’ve been photographing their summer beach vacations for many years. It’s been so much fun watching new members arrive, and young members grow strong and tall! All the while, Greg and Susan haven’t changed a bit!!! I just can’t imagine the wonderful stories and beautiful memories all these kids will have as they grow into adults and start having families of their own.

The Hamrick Boys on Isle of Palms

It’s been a few years now, but I remember photographing the Hamrick boys like it was yesterday! In fact one of their shots graces our website: https://chrisandcami.com/gallery/families/. So we did a fun “recreation” of the original shot. Can you tell which one it is?  🙂

The boys were so much fun back then…and are still a hoot today!!! In spite of the whipping wind and overcast skies, we decided to be adventurous and go for it. I’m so glad we did! The texture of the skies really ads a cool mystique to the photos.  Plus we had the entire beach to ourselves!

It was so much fun catching up with Robin and her energetic entourage! I can’t wait to do it again in a few years!!!

Stein Family on Isle of Palms

Another summer is finally here! And with it came our good friends and wonderful clients, Chris & Vicki Stein, for their annual vacation on IOP. We had so much fun catching up with them and their three adorable girls…capturing some fun memories along the way. 🙂

Dawson’s 1-Year Cake Smashing

I had so much fun photographing Graham’s 1-year old Cake Smashing 4 years ago. So when Whitney & Logan called to schedule Dawson’s Cake Smashing photo shoot, I was super excited! 🙂

We had a blast photographing family portraits on a gorgeous morning at a beach on Isle of Palms. Eventually we wore the little guys out and decided it was time to feed them some sugar. This is always my FAVORITE part!!!

Congratulations, Dawson…you’re a “Big Boy” now! 😉

Mahoney Family on Isle of Palms

Last night we had the BEST beach portrait session weather we’ve had all summer! A late afternoon shower came through town and cooled things off. The wind wasn’t too strong.  And the light was soft and beautiful.  Add to all that, how much fun the AMAZING Mahoney Family was to work with, and you have the makings of a wonderful beach portrait session!

I met up with this crazy gang on Isle of Palms. Part of their family lives on IOP. Others drove down to visit from Ohio. So it was the perfect opportunity to gather everyone to gather in one place for some family photos!  Not to mention that we were celebrating a major milestone as well.

Many thanks to Emily for organizing everything.  And CONGRATULATIONS to Dan on turning 75!!!  🙂

Isle of Palms Family Beach Portrait

The Blalocks are spread out all over the country…Colorado, Georgia, Pennsylvania.  So it was very special for them to be able to come together for a family vacation here in the Charleston area.  I was honored that they contacted us about photographing their family portrait on the beach across from the house they had rented on IOP.  We laughed, got wet, and had a great time creating some fun memories.  J

Jessica & Keith’s Family Beach Portraits

A few days ago I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Jessica & Keith’s family portraits on Isle of Palms.  I photographed the usual shots on their rental property, then offered to shoot some of them on the beach at no charge.  It was a beautiful evening, cooler weather than last week, and an absolutely GORGEOUS sunset to work with.  As a bonus, the tide was going out and left all kinds of interesting tidal pools in the soft sand.  I asked if everyone was crazy enough to get a little wet, and they were all for it!  I LOVE the shots at the end with the reflections from the tidal pool they are sitting in.  J  Such a neat family…so much fun to hang out with these guys.  Enjoy…

Jacci & Scott at Wild Dunes

I photographed Jacci & Scott’s wedding two years ago.  It’s hard to believe since I remember their Big Day like it was yesterday!  So imagine how excited I was to hear they had started a family.  They were coming back to Charleston for vacation and asked if I’d be willing to do a few photos of them.  Are you KIDDING?!?  It was so nice to see them again, catch up, and meet little Jack.  The really funny part is, they were married at Sunrise Presbyterian Church…and Jackie & Chris’ wedding last weekend was at the same location…coincidence?!?  Hmmm….
