Mt. Pleasant Fleet Maintenance Building

Who doesn’t like shiny new toolboxes, powerful truck lifts, and massive air hoses?!? Photographing the new Mt. Pleasant Fleet Maintenance Building recently built by Trident Construction was SO COOL!!! It was like being on a long lost episode of Home Improvement with Tim the Toolman Tailor. 🙂

The Cape at Kiawah Island

Photographing The Cape, an amazing brand new high-end condo complex on Kiawah Island, was an absolute dream! Although the project is far from complete, I was able to get into a few of the units.  The views are absolutely STUNNING!!! Many thanks to Anna and the team at Trident Construcion for this amazing oportunity.

Danny Jones North Charleston Sports Complex

We don’t have many aquatic centers in Charleston. I guess everybody goes to the beach to swim?!? And we have very few really nice public sports complexes. Most of the nicer ones are private. When the city of North Charleston decided to build the Danny Jones Sports Complex near Park Circle, there was a ton of excitement surrounding the project. Imagine my excitement when I was selected to photograph it!!!

The city of North Charleston invested $25 million to build the North Charleston Sports Complex after demolishing the Danny Jones Athletic Center over a year ago. The new sports facility has a 25-meter competitive pool, and a multi-use gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and badminton. Visitors can also enjoy the five outdoor tennis courts, multi-use roller rink, soccer field and baseball diamond.

“Built for our residents, this facility underscores our dedication to enriching lives through comprehensive recreational opportunities,” Mayor Reggie Burgess says. “It signifies our ongoing effort to ensure that North Charleston remains a place where community and health go hand in hand.”

Many thanks to Caitlyn from the architecture team at McMillan Pazdan Smith, and Anna from the contractor team at Trident Construction, for trusting me with this assignment!

Colorful Folly Beach Condo for SMHa Architects

I always enjoy photographing assignments for SMHa Architects. Their work is always so creative, while being practical at the same time!

This week I had the pleasure of photographing a newly renovated condo building for them on Folly Beach. The project is in a prime location, right on the beach, just steps from the amazing new Folly Beach Pier! With it still being spring, I knew the afternoon sun wouldn’t hit the front of the building until late afternoon. I love shooting during that “Golden Hour” part of the day anyway. Plus we were blessed with a gorgeous blue-sky day. So it worked out perfect!

Many thanks to Marie for organizing everything, and for trusting me with this assignment.

Kiawah Event Hall for Trident Construction

A brand new high-end Kiawah Event Hall is going up on the banks of the Kiawah River. I had the honor of being the first person to photograph the freshly finished project for Trident Construction!!!

Azalea Drive Project for Trident Construction

Trident Construction, founded in Charleston in 1981, provides construction services in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. The amazing team at Trident Construction invited me to photograph some promotional photos of the progress being made on their latest project.

Forty years after opening its first Public Works facility, North Charleston is unveiling a new, state of the art complex posed to streamline services from a central location within the city. This $42 million multi-building campus, spread across 38 acres, houses public works functions, such as engineering, street and sidewalk maintenance, stormwater maintenance and utility, solid waste disposal, traffic signs and signals, landscaping, city facilities maintenance and repair, fleet maintenance, and construction contract administration.

“We are proud to open a Public Works complex that fits the stature of our growing city. From an old, small, metal creek-side building to a beautiful campus on repurposed land from the federal government, this facility ensures the capacity to handle the growth of North Charleston over the decades to come,” said North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey.

Aero Logistics Warehouse for Trident Construction

AERO Logistics just moved into their massive new industrial distribution warehouse in Summerville!

If you’ve never heard of them, AERO Logistics is an asset-based service provider structured to support the cold-chain efforts of the 3PL and Freight Forwarding Community. Their operation is supported by a knowledgeable staff, a fleet of new well-maintained equipment, cutting edge technology, and robust warehouse operations. But it’s their customer-oriented service-driven approach that sets this organization apart from other distribution groups.

I had the pleasure of photographing this giant new warehouse for Trident Construction, the amazing team that designed and built it!

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architects and Trident Construction

McMillan Pazdan Smith is a regional, studio-based architecture, planning, and interior design firm. Their purpose is to create meaningful and lasting impact for the good of all. Their goal is to design a better future through thoughtful, creative, and purpose-driven solutions. Serving with integrity has always been at the heart of what MPS is about. Many projects stem from repeat clients, a testament to their focus on design excellence and customer service.

McMillan Pazden Smith recently moved their offices into the brand new and ultra-modern Morrison Yard building in downtown Charleston. One of my favorite clients, Trident Construction, was tasked with the uplift of the new office space. And I was honored to be selected to photograph it for them!

Retina Consultants for Novus Architects

Novus Architects was founded 25 years ago by Tommy Smith in his living room, working for one client. It didn’t take long for the Novus family to expand, as the demand grew for Tommy’s creative process and commitment to exceptional customer service. That first client, and many others that followed, are still working with Novus Architects today. Many of the team members from those early days are still around as well. What started as a small family firm, has simply grown into a larger extended family.

It was a pleasure photographing the new revovations Novus Architect implimented at Retina Consultants in Mt. Pleasant!

Warehouse 13 for Trident Construction

You might think that photographing an empty warehouse would be kind of boring. On the contrary, it’s actually quite fascinating!!! I had the honor of photographing this brand new massive warehouse outside of Summerville for Trident Construction this week. Being the only person in this giant, empty space was quite overwhelming. But quitely capturing the repeating patterns of the steel beams, and all the graphical elements, without the distractions of fork lifts, workers, or piles of product, was kind of cool. Soon this place will be jam packed with goods, and filled with all the incessant noise that comes along with a busy warehouse in motion….constantly moving product in, out, and around the facility. So it was kind of cool to capture the calm before the storm!

Firefly Distillery

Tucked away off the beaten path from downtown Charleston, a stone’s throw from the beautiful Noisette Creek, sits the newly constructed Firefly Distillery. Many of the materials used to build the elegant, barn-inspired space were taken from their roots on Wadmalaw Island, with elements purchased from local craftsmen or refurbished from rustic barns.

I had the good fortune of being able to photograph the property for the builder several years ago, shortly after construction. It was a pleasure to return to Firefly Distillery this week to photograph some of their recent additions and expansions. Many thanks to Cara for helping make this photo shoot possible!

Capers Hall for DWG Consulting

The Citadel has long been an iconic landmark here in Charleston. I’ve enjoyed photographing many graduations, senior portraits, weddings, events, and political debates at the military college campus.

Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of photographing one of the largest renovations the college has done in recent years. Plans to renovate Capers Hall, which is at the corner of the main entrance to the campus, have been in the works since 2017. And the construction has taken over two years. But now that it’s complete, the new facility looks AMAZING!!!

Many thanks to Cate with DWG Consulting Engineers for bringing me on board and trusting me to showcase this beautiful building for them.
