Denver’s 1-Year Portraits Downtown Charleston

Who could ask for a more beautiful day, and a more happy young man, for a photo shoot?!? I’ve been photographing Denver since he was just a weeeee little thing…and this was my favorite shoot with him so far. 🙂

Here’s to many more fun times, young Master Denver…

Mason’s 1-Year Portraits at Waterfront Park

I’ve been photographing Mason since he was still in his mama’s belly…and even before THAT when he was just a twinkle in Brittainy & Nate’s eyes at their beautiful wedding.  So it was very special for me to capture his 1-Year Portraits now that he’s grown into a handsome little boy who’s standing, and walking, and mischievously running away from his parents!  🙂

Shooting with Virgil Bunao

Collaborating with other amazing photographers in town is one of the highlights of what I do. Sometimes as an artist you feel like you’re in a “rut”. Working with others, bouncing ideas back and forth, is one way to think outside the box and come up with new ideas and fresh perspectives. So when my good friend and vsionary, Virgil (www.virgilbunao.com) asked me to shoot with him on this beautiful wedding at a rustic plantation near Beaufort, how could I resist?!? Here are a few shots of Virgil and his motley crew!  🙂

Aerial Shoot for BASF Corporate Event

My week was already jam packed. But when my good friend, Gary Coleman, asked me if I’d do some areal coverage for a corporate event he was photographing, how could I pass that up!?!

Here are some behind-the scenes photos of our team, as well as few images from my ride with Jonas of www.peedeeheli.com.

Many thanks to Gary and Amy at www.colemanphotography.com for always being so fun to work with!!!

Rachel & Steve at Alhambra Hall

The days and hours leading up to Rachel & Steve’s wedding last weekend were full of concern…predictions calling for a very soggy weekend. When I arrived early at Alhambra Hall, gloomy clouds continued to threaten the skies. Like a miracle, just when we were getting ready to head outside, the skies parted, and glorious warm sunshine rained down instead!

Rachel is an MUSC Grad with a small tight-knit family. Steve is a chef at the Francis Marion Hotel with a huge extended family. Different backgrounds, different vocations…but SO PERFECT for each other! They’ve been engaged for a couple years. This day has been a long-time coming. And I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Watching Rachel and Steve with their fun personalities, goofy senses of humor, and positive energy really drew me in and captured my creativity. The way they look at each other, finish each other’s thoughts, and hold each other close truly filled my heart with joy.

CONGRATULATIONS Rachel & Steve! May God bless you as you journey down your new path together!!!

Lowcountry OB/GYN Corporate Shoot

Yesterday morning was crisp, clear, and beatiful!

I was up before dawn preparing all my gear for an early morning corporate shoot. As a bonus, I got to watch the sunrise as I drove over the Don Holt bridge, heading to the lowcation our clients, Lowcountry OB/GYN had selected. They wanted the images to say “Lowcountry”, so as to be synonymous with their marketing. And the location they picked was perfect!

The group was absolutely WONDERFUL to work with! They had been recommended to us by Stephen Roland at Tenet Practice Resources. I had photographed Stephen’s wedding a few months ago, and was so thrilled when he said he loved our work and wanted to recommend us to some of his clients. Many thanks to Stephen for sending us such a fun group of folks to work with!!!

Emily & Tom’s Morris Island Engagement Session

Emily & Tom are from North Dakota…they even have the accents to prove it! I’m so glad they perceviered with me through a record number of scheduling snafus and weather issues, which finally proved worth-while yesterday afternoon. We were rewarded with the most AMAZING, crisp, clear, and gorgeous day for their engagement session at Morris Island Inlet on Folly Beach! As a special treat, they even brought Lola, their 7-month old rhodesian ridgeback. We had so much fun together! It truly was an honor for me to witness the beautiful bond these two share. 🙂 CONGRATULATIONS Emily & Tom!!!

Brinker Family Studio Session

I don’t often get a chance to share studio sessions. But we had so much fun with the Brinker family this morning, I couldn’t resist!!! 🙂

Melissa & Jay at State Street Baptist

I love my friends. And I love shooting weddings. I have the most AWESOME time when I get to shoot my friend’s weddings!!!

Last weekend, my good friend and amazing photographer in his own right (check out his creative work at www.picassoperfectphotography.com), married the woman of his dreams! Through their engagement session and her bridal shoot, it’s been so much fun becoming friends with Melissa…getting to know what a beautiful person she is, inside and out. Plus on the wedding day, their families made me feel like one of their own. And I made so many NEW friends, like Jay’s second-shooter, Andrew, who helped me cover the big day.

Their fall wedding at State Street Baptist in Columbia, where her family is very active, was such a joyous spirit-led celebration! I loved how Jay honored Melissa in kneeling to deliver his vows…something he had not told her he was doing. The emotions welling up, not only in Melissa, but in the entire congregation, nearly had me in tears! Witnessing true love, honor, and devotion is one of the many joys of my job!!!

Melissa & Jay’s reception was held at The Hall at Senate’s End. You couldn’t find a more perfect, rustic, and elegant setting to fit these two. It was beautifully decorated with lots of love and attention to details. A full orchestra kept the merry festivities rolling along. In the end, this AMAZING couple made their grand escape through a sea of sparklers, driving off in Jay’s old restored Mustang!

CONGRATULATIONS Melissa & Jay! May God bless you as you begin your new journey together!!!

Holiday Portrait Sessions and Gift Certificates

If you’re interested in purchasing Gift Certificate for a family member, friend, or loved one this year, just let us know!

I had the pleasure of photographing Tara & Matt’s wedding several years ago!  So it was an honor to hear from them late last year, requesting a Gift Certificate for a Family Portrait Session to give to his mom for Christmas. Since they don’t expire for 12 months, Linda held on to that certificate until last week. We met downtown in a really neat part of the old city that I call our “Charleston Charm” session. Walking around the old historic buildings, with black iron gates and faded brick walls, it’s a photographer’s paradise! We got some great shots, had a lot of fun together…and of course I enjoyed catching up with Tara & Matt and their family!

I’m sure Linda will use some of these for her Christmas card, and as Christmas gifts to the kids. So Tara & Matt’s gift last year turned out to be the gift-that-keeps-on-giving!

Spots are filling up fast for holiday portrait sessions this year.  Reserve yours today!!!

Melissa’s Bridal Portraits at Old Sheldon Church Ruins

CONGRATULATIONS to Melissa & Jay who tied the knot this weekend in a beautiful Spirit-led ceremony.

One of my favorite things to shoot is Bridal Portraits! Unfortunately, I don’t get to share them after the shoot because of course the wedding gown is a “secret”. But Melissa’s bridal portrait session was so special, and she was so beautiful, that I just HAD to go back and find them to share with everyone.

Here are just a few favorites from her amazing session at the historic Old Sheldon Church Ruins…

Sam’s College Graduation Photos

Cami & I had a BLAST hanging out with Sam and photographing some college graduation photos for her! We’ve known Samantha for years, ever since she joined us on our African safari advanture. So it was great to see her again and catch up with all the new and exciting developments in her life. 🙂
