Last weekend, Cami & I finally had a break from a busy fall wedding season. So we headed to the mountains of North Carolina for a little R&R and a change of scenery!
The Acorn B&B has become a favorite of ours! So we enjoyed the hospitality of Gene & Bob’s wonderful place as our base of adventures.
Each day we’d strike out in search of a gorgeous sunset drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a heart-pumping hike on one of the thousands of trails, a search for thundering waterfalls, or poking around the many nooks and shops of quaint towns like Brevard or Hendersonville.
If you’re like us and enjoy the warm hospitality (and scrumptious breakfasts) of an excellent Bed & Breakfast, check out Acorn B&B near Asheville for your next escape…we highly recommend it!

What a gorgeous evening we had yesterday! It was just perfect for this fun photo shoot with the Hammond Family on Isle of Palms!!! 🙂

On the way home from a family portrait session on Isle of Palms last night, I glanced over to see this AMAZING scene unfolding outside my window. I couldn’t help stopping to grab this shot!

For the first three months of the year she was showing flashes of her former brilliance, and as soon as the tour moved to clay they were flashes no more – the legend was back.
Serena Williams put together one of the greatest seven months in the history of women’s tennis from April to October this year, winning two Grand Slam titles, Olympic gold and 48 of 50 matches – and for all of that, she is this year’s WTA Player Of The Year.
CONGRATULATIONS to Serena Williams, who is also our 2012 Family Circle Cup Champion!!!

Thanksgiving weekend was a great time to get away…be with family down in the Hilton Head area…and get outdoors.
I explored some areas of the Savannah NWR that I’d never been to before. With the winter migration gearing up, there was a great deal of activity. I also enjoyed spending some quit time at Cami’s aunt and uncle’s house, photographing the beautiful backyard birds that frequent their feeding stations. All images were photographed with a Nikon D4 and Nikkor 200-400VR, occasionally adding the TC14eII converter and an SB-800 for fill flash.
The weekend was a welcome change of pace, and a good way to recharge before coming back to finish out the holiday season in full force!

Several years ago I had the most awesome tome photographing Lauren & Tom’s wedding at Trinity United Methodist here in Charleston. What an incredible honor to have Lauren’s brother, Brit, ask us to photograph his wedding as well!!!
Ashley & Brit have been dating for 9 years…since about the time he went to college. Brit studied music administration and Ashley studied business. They knew they wanted to work in the music industry. So they moved to Nashville. But they’ve also toured the world with companies like Disney on Ice. Truly, theirs is a fairytale courtship if you ask me! 🙂
When Brit finally asked Ashley to be his bride, it was during a romantic getaway to Gatlinburg. But their 2-year old boxer, Stella, kept interrupting the proposal!
Eventually she said yes! And Ashley & Brit were married at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, which her Dad helped build, making the day extra special. Father Fabio’s homily was beautiful and humorous at the same time, with excellent words of wisdom for the new bride and groom.
Their elegant reception was held at the gorgeous Brakefield at Riverwalk, a new venue designed in the style of an old English Manor, overlooking the river. Everyone had an amazing time throughout the evening. Highlights included Ashley’s grandfather playing polka wedding music on his accordion! Also, many thanks to my good friend and amazing photographer, Steve Roos, for photographing their gorgeous day with me…
Special Wishing Lanterns were set free into the starry sky as Ashley & Brit made their grand escape into the night. CONGRATULATIONS you guys! May God Bless you as you begin your new journey together!!!

The 2012 ESPN Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant, an eight-team men’s college basketball tournament, will feature 12 games over the three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. The two teams that remain undefeated throughout will face off in a championship match.
Northwestern won the 2011 tournament title. Previous winners include Clemson (2008), Miami (2009) and Georgetown (2010).
Auburn and Murray State will join the field for the 2012 Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant. The tournament is set to be played on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 15, 16 & 18, at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.
Murray State is coming off the greatest season in its 87-year history, going 31-2 and reaching as high as No. 7 in the national rankings. Auburn finished 15-16 in head coach Tony Barbee’s second season. The Tigers look to return to the postseason for the first time since the 2009 National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

Recap of the 2012 Family Circle Cup, with Serena Williams as the champion, and the “Original 9” founders of the WTA, including Billie Jean King, coming out to help celebrate its 40th Anniversary in Charleston, SC.
Samantha Stosur, World No. 9 on the WTA Tour, has become the first player to commit to the 2013 Family Circle Cup, March 30th – April 7th, 2013.
The 2013 tournament will become Stosur’s seventh appearance at the Family Circle Cup. She won the Family Circle Cup singles title in 2010, defeating Vera Zvonareva 6-1, 6-3, in just 52 minutes. Stosur also holds the doubles title for 2006 with Lisa Raymond.
“I’m excited to return to the Family Circle Cup again this year,” said Stosur. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments and whenever I get the chance to play in Charleston, I always look forward to it.”
The 28-year-old top-ranked Australian has notched more than 390 career singles victories, been ranked as high as World No. 4 and amassed total career earnings of $11,291,537. Most notably, Stosur won the 2011 US Open.
“The Family Circle Cup is thrilled to welcome Sam back for the seventh time,” said Eleanor Adams, Family Circle Cup Tournament Director. “She is a fan favorite here in Charleston, and as a Top 10 player, a true force in the WTA.”
In August, Stosur was asked by TennisIDENTITY what tournament she most enjoys outside of the Grand Slams. In which she responded, “One that always stands out is Charleston. I love playing there. It’s just a really nice club and everybody in that town seems to really get behind the tennis and the stands are full from first rounds to the final…I actually think it’s the longest running WTA event so they know what they’re doing and they treat us very nice and they’ve got some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to in that town…”
