Family Circle Cup – Day 2

Day 2 of the Family Circle Cup has come and gone! Here are some of the sights and thrills from yesterday…

Family Circle Cup – Day 1

Day 1 of the Family Circle Cup was full of fun and excitement. From court action to autograph sessions, from the All Access Media Hour to the VIP Boxholder Reception…so much to see and do for all. The rest of the week proves to be just as great…so come on out! 🙂

Family Circle Cup Begins!

Today is the first of the two-day qualifying rounds for the main draw of the Family Circle Cup!  As one of the Official Photographers of the tournament, I’ll be out there all next week.  So throw me a wave or give me a shout if you see me hustling by.  I’m the one laden down with camera gear with a khaki fishing hat protecting me from the sun!!!  🙂

This is Family Weekend at the cup.  Adults and kids will experience two fun-filled days of balloon artists, spring craft stations, face painting, cookie decorating, magicians, jump castles, an easter egg hunt, and many more interactive activities. Free admission for kids 12 and under, and adults are only $10.  Head to the Grand Lawn this afternoon to be a part of Family Circle Cup history, as player names are drawn to determine who will face-off! Interact with WTA players and pose for a picture!

Check the website at www.familycirclecup.com to see recaps and photos, and to check the schedule for each day’s activities and draws.  Here’s one of my pics from last year that the WTA is using for one of their ads.  Let the play begin!!!

Lauren & Keenan at Pine Lakes Country Club

Lauren & Keenan were so organized and fun to work with in planning their wedding. So I KNEW we were going to have an AWESOME time photographing their special day!!! 🙂

In spite of the gloomy skies, everyone was in high spirits when we arrived. The venue was absolutely GORGEOUS! Pine Lakes Country Club is the oldest golf club in the state, which is really cool!  As always, Elizabeth of Grand Occasions Inc did a fantastic job decorating. And Wally B kept the party rockin’.

Lauren was simply stunning in her single-strap wedding gown. And Keenan looked quite suave in his white suite and accessories…right down to his time piece! Cami & I both loved the colors they had picked as well. Lauren’s shoe’s matching the bridesmaids’ dresses…Keenan’s boutonniere matching the bridesmaids’ shoes.

CONGRATULATIONS Lauren & Keenan! We love you guys and wish you all the happiness in the world as you begin this new journey together!!!

Lauren & Cody at White Point Gardens

I can’t wait to photograph Lauren & Cody’s wedding next year!!!

From Virginia, they were in town with family earlier this week to do a little wedding planning. So we took advantage of a beautiful, albeit chilly, afternoon…going all out for a really fun engagement session! Lauren loves all the variety and scenery Charleston has to offer…we picked an area that would encapsulate a wide gamut of that for them in their portraits.

Lauren & Cody have the most amazing connection! I just love their energy and enthusiasm!!! We all had a ton of fun together…which is the way it should be. 🙂

Trident Healthcare Service Awards Banquet

Last week I had the honor of photographing the annual Trident Healthcare Service Awards Banquet!

It was a really neat event, honoring some very dedicated and deserving individuals in our health care system! One nurse took her patient’s clothes home with her to wash them with her laundry so that her patient could have clean clothes to go home in! Stories like that just rejuvenate my hope for mankind!!!

Many thanks to my friend Stacy Pearsall for the kind referral. It was an honor and a pleasure being a part of this special corporate event.

Charleston Fashion Week with Nikon D7100

Since I just received one of the first batch of Nikon D7100 cameras in the country, I thought photographing the Charleston Fashion Week would be the perfect real-world opportunity to run it through it’s paces!

Here are a few images. Some were taken with my trusty Nikon D4. Others were taken with my new Nikon D7100. All were shot at ISO 1600 or 3200. No noise reduction or WB changes were applied in post-processing!  Only minor cropping and an occasional EV bump.  But otherwise, these are pretty much direct JPGs from the RAW files.  If you look closely, you could probably pick out the difference between the D4/D7100. If I zoom in to 100%, of course there’s a substantial difference…probably a stop or two in ISO performance.  But overall, I’m extremely pleased with how well the D7100 will fit in with the other kids in my sandbox.  🙂

I’ll post a more detailed review at www.lightbending411.com soon!

Whitten Family at Boone Hall Plantation

Rachel & AJ recently had their 5-year Anniversary from when they first started dating. So it was with great honor that I joined them in photographing their new family at Boone Hall Plantation!

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening. Spring was in the air, flowers were in bloom, and the warm sunshine was streaming through the beautiful oak trees! Plus their adorable daughter, Nikki, was full of wonder and mischief. We all had a great time capturing these timeless memories before she grows up too much! 🙂

2013 Symphony Designer Showhouse

One of the most gifted interior designers in Charleston is Sandra Ericksen Design, a favorite client of ours for many years! She was selected to be one of the creative forces behind this year’s Symphony Designer Showhouse at 4 South Adgers Wharf. What an honor when she and Maria Schendzelos, another fantastic designer known for her attention to detail, asked me to come photograph the pieces they had put together for this amazing home!

Toni & Doug at Azalea Park

What perfect timing!

Toni & Doug scheduled their engagement session at Azalea Park months ago, in hopes that the azaleas would be in bloom. Sure enough, the beautiful colors started popping out about a week ago. When we arrived at the park, it was just gorgeous!

We had a great time together. It was so much fun to get to know Toni & Doug better. They are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I can’t wait to be there for them on their wedding day next month! 🙂
