Lawrimore Family along the Ashley River

I owe a HUGE thank you to my friends Bobby & Jennifer Lauman for referring me to the Lawrimore Family.

This was a particularly special photo shoot because we were also commemorating amazing achievements in the Boy Scouts for these two young men! Well done, guys!!! While we were at it, they changed outfits and we captured some fun family portraits as well. 🙂

What was particularly unique for me was the beautiful location they had picked for the photos. Their family often comes down this path behind their neighborhood to fish or go kayaking in the Ashley River. We had so much fun! Plus we ended up with a beautiful day with gorgeous light to work with!!!

Hogg Family at Hampton Park

Cited as the location of the very first Memorial Day celebration, Hampton Park was originally part of Orange Grove Plantation, and later bought by the South Carolina Jockey Club on which to build stables and host a popular horse race. Today it’s the largest park on the Charleston peninsula and one of my favorite locations for portrait sessions!

I had so much fun Friday photographing the Hogg Family at this beautiful park. The flowers were in bloom, the summer foliage was full, the huge oaks were as mighty as ever! Now living in Nevada, James is originally from England, and Jacquiline’s heritage comes from the Netherlands. I always enjoy meeting such unique families who have traveled the world!

It was an honor and a pleasure getting to know them and their amazing kids as we enjoyed this wonderful summer evening together in Charleston!!!

Whitmer Family at Shem Creek Park

Photographing the Whitmer Family over the years has been such a blessing. They are the nicest, kindest, neatest humans you could ever hope to meet! Plus of course it’s so cool watching all the little ones grow from tiny tots into beautiful young people.

The morning of our shoot all our weather apps were threatening 30% chance of rain. But we decided to go for it…and it worked out BEAUTIFULLY!!! The sun was out, with soft diffusion from a layer of clouds. As a bonus, we even got to stop and watch some manatees swimming in the creek!!! Then right as we got back to our cars, it started to rain…what perfect timing. 🙂

We had so much fun exploring Shem Creek Park together and coming up with these beautiful images to commemorate their annual vacation together!

McCue Family at Palmetto Island County Park

I had so much fun photographing the McCue Family at Palmetto Island County Park this weekend!

We couldn’t have picked a better day. The temperatures were nice and cool. And the sun was beautiful and bright. The location Aimee selected was fantastic as well. With oak trees draped in Spanish moss, stately palmetto pines, woodland walking trails, and an awesome boardwalk leading into the marsh, we had tons of picturesque scenes to choose from.

Many thanks to Aimee & Chad and their adorable kids for being such a pleasure to work with!!!

Porch Portraits with the Roberts Family

If you don’t have an AMAZING eye-doctor already, I highly recommend Dr. Lori at Belle Hall Eye Care! That’s who I choose to take care of my eyes and she’s fantastic.

A few days ago I had the privilege of photographing Porch Portraits or “Porchaits” for her and her amazing daughter. We had so much fun, capturing photos of Ellie playing with their chickens, horses, cats and dogs. 🙂 Using telephoto lenses, I was able to shoot all these from over 6 feet away while keeping my social-distancing and helping to flatten the curve.

Dr. Lori and Ellie are such beautiful young ladies, both inside and out. It was such an honor preserving these memories for them!!!

The Scott Family at Christ Our King

Last evening was some of the prettiest fall weather we’ve had all year. It was absolutely perfect for the Scott Family’s portrait session at Christ Our King Catholic Church!

I met up with The Scott’s at their church, just as the sun was starting to turn that perfect warm golden color. Taking advantage of the picturesque gardens behind the church, we found tons of great backdrops, and photographed a wonderful variety of fun portraits for them. Their three girls were absolutely ADORABLE!!! And the addition of their grandparents, who were down here visiting from Connecticut, made it even more special.

Many thanks to Beth for all her hard work in coordinating everyone’s busy schedules! 🙂

Roberts Family at Pepper Plantation

The soggy December rains kept ruining our plans for another annual Rogers Family Christmas Portrait.

But Dr. Lori of Belle Hall Eye Care is such a wonderful, easy-going, and understanding human being! She kept rolling with the punches. And on the 3rd day of the New Year, we FINALLY captured her family portraits at Pepper Plantation!  With ponies, puppies, and even a chicken, the session was a real treat.  Plus, at one point Ellie got a hold of my remote control and started taking their own photos.  So of course I HAD to jump in!  😉  We had so much fun!!!

We absolutely love this beautiful family to pieces!

Sarah & Oliver’s Pitt Street Pier Secret Proposal

Sarah lived in Charleston for a while, during which time Pitt Street Pier was one of her favorite spots in town. When her family decided to come down here to celebrate her mom’s 60th birthday this weekend, Oliver thought this picturesque pier would be the PERFECT place to propose to Sarah!!! 🙂

We lucked out with an empty pier because the tide was high and all the usual fishermen were further down the Ocean Walk, lined up in Pickett Park. The winds weren’t too high. The sky was clear. The late afternoon light was beautiful. And we even had gorgeous full moon rising in the east as the sun set in the west! Everything worked out absolutely perfect for Oliver’s Surprise Proposal!

Many thanks to my friends at Valerie & Co for the kind referral. And CONGRATULATIONS to Oliver & Sarah!!!

Adorable Emma

It always blows me away, how quickly children grow!

Photographing the Haddens, starting way back at their engagement session, has been a real joy to me. Photographing their latest addition has been no different. Emma is an adorable, sweet, loving, little girl.

For her 8-month portrait session, Clay and I got to take her out for a fun play date. I even got to hold Emma while Clay was getting a few things out of the car. It was a bit like that movie, Three Men and a Baby…HA! We met at the Old Village Post House in Old Mt. Pleasant, wandering the surrounding neighborhoods for quaint backdrops.

Emma put a smile in my heart and a spring in my step that lasted throughout the day!  🙂

A Four-Generation Christmas

We had a little trouble with weather, illnesses, and schedules…so I thought it might not happen until after Christmas. But suddenly, a sliver of an opening, everyone healthy, and the sun warm and shinning…the perfect opportunity to squeeze in a Four-Generation Christmas Shoot for one of our all-time favorite clients! 🙂

I met up with Dr. Lori, her daughter Ellie, her mom Maxine, and her grandmother “Granny G” at granny’s retirement community in Mt. Pleasant. With Christmas just around the corner, the atmosphere was festive, the staff was wonderful, and we all had a great time! Ellie has really come out of her shell this year.  She is so inquisitive…exploring and investigating EVERYTHING in site!  I just love this “age of discovery” when little boys’ and girls’ eyes light up at new and exciting “Eureka” moments.

Since I opened the year by photographing Ellie’s 1-year birthday party the first week of 2014, it was so fitting that she was ALSO the star of my last photo shoot of the year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Ellie and her wonderful family…and to each and every one of you…our amazing families, clients, and friends!!!
