Belle Hall Eye Care

When my eye-sight started bowing to the reality of my age, Dr. Lori at Belle Hall Eye Care was the one who figured out the genious “fix” that matched me perfectly! I believe they are the greatest eye care center in town, and HIGHLY recommend them!!!

Yesterday found me not only their client, but their photographer, as I updated shots for their website and marketing material. Many thanks to Maxxine, Dr. Lori, and the staff for being so fun to work with! Even little Ellie took on the role of a supermodel with ease!!! 🙂

Lisa at Hayden Jennings Real Estate

A couple days ago I had the privilege of photographing some marketing photos for Lisa at Hayden Jennings Real Estate. We met at the Daniel Island Club, where they are members, and had a great time walking around the beautiful property, finding great spots to create images that evoke the Daniel Island lifestyle their company portrays…

Clore Law Group Spring Party

I look forward each year to the Clore Law Group’s Spring Party with much anticipation! It’s easily one of the most fun and exciting celebrations I get to be a part of every year…and this year was even more outrageous than last!!! 🙂

Danielle & Mike’s “Tennis Theme” Newborn Session

My friend Sterling Pickett is SO CREATIVE! After we had so much fun photographing Mike & Danielle’s beautiful daughter last week, she came up with the idea of doing a “Tennis Theme” mini-shoot. Since tennis is another love of theirs, and Mike was so instrumental in running the Family Circle Cup for so many years, it was a perfect fit!. 🙂

Brooke & Chadwick’s Wedding at Middleton Place Inn

Brooke was born and raised here in the West Ashley area. She attended CofC. And she is a youth minister at Hope Presbyterian Church. Chadwick is a Marine, now works at Boeing doing similar final installation to what he did on helicopters in Afghanistan, and is getting his Civil Engineering degree from The Citadel. Brooke and Chadwick met when they lived near each other in her apartment complex. They started dating when he was playing in the praise band at her church. She is super sweet, bubbly, and hilarious to be around! He is an absolute gentleman with a contageous laugh and a charismatic personalilty!

Brooke & Chadwick had dated for about a year when he proposed to her at Disney World in one of the princess castles with all the princesses all around them. He knew that she absolutely loved princesses when she was a little girl.  So how special of him to plan everything out this way! She says he’s a real gentleman that way.

Brooke was absolutely STUNNING in her gorgeous wedding gown. Their ceremony at The Inn at Middleton Place was absolutely elegant! With beautiful weather, wonderful family and friends, they exchanged their vows underneath a cross in the courtyard looking over the Asley River. Their reception followed at The Lake House, which over flowed with energy and excitement all night long!

CONGRATULATIONS Brooke & Chadwick! May God Bless you as you begin your exciting new journey together!!!

Clark Family on Kiawah Island

I’ve been photographing the Clark family every 2 years since Hud joined this beautiful couple on planet earth. It’s hard to believe he’s now a grown up 6-year old!!! I always have such a great time with them. They treat me like family. It’s wonderful folks like this that remind me how truly blessed I am to have the most awesome job in the world!!! 🙂

Danielle & Mike’s Newborn Session

It’s been so much fun working with my friends, Danielle & Mike, as they document the arrival of their beautiful little girl into the world!

I loved their sans-baby shoot a couple years ago. We had a blast at their maternity shoot about a month ago. Then just yesterday we had an AWESOME time photographing little Graziella’s newborn shoot! It was so much fun to finally meet her…just a precious little beauty!!!

My friend Sterling Pickett is an amazing and talented photographer who specializes in newborns. When she so kindly offered to let us do the shoot at her studio since we’re still in the process of moving, I jumped at the chance to collaborate with her! I absolutely love working with other creatives, bouncing ideas off each other, feeding on one another’s excitement, and coming up with really unique images together. I highly recommend Sterling…such a sweetheart!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Danielle & Mike! You got yourselves a keeper. And I know you guys are going to be the best parents ever!!!

NAFED Awards Banquet at North Charleston Convention Center

I had a fantastic time photographing the annual Awards Banquet for the National Association of Food Equipment Dealers at the Embassy Suites and North Charleston Convention Center last week!

A nonprofit buying cooperative, NAFED Inc. was founded by a group of dealers in 1959, and was formally incorporated in South Carolina in 1981. The organization has been owned and operated by dealers, and for dealers, ever since.

Lauren & Cody’s Wedding at Magnolia Plantation

What an AMAZING couple, Lauren & Cody are! Lauren has had some very serious struggles with her health. But she is determined young lady who knows how to fight. And Cody has been with her through it all since they were dating. In her words: “Cody is an unwavering saint and we can’t wait to get married!”

Getting to know them through their other photo session, and all our talks about the Big Day, I can tell THIS is the real deal! If you’re looking for an example of true love…you only have to get to know Lauren & Cody to experience it!!!

Their wedding was held at the gorgeous and historic Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. The heavens knew that Lauren struggles with heat and humidity…so they sent a refreshing sprinkle of liquid sunshine just in time. 🙂 To some, this would have been a dampener on their day. To Lauren and Cody, it just made them smile even more! Truly it made for an “ENCHANTING” day, as Lauren’s mom put it!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Lauren & Cody! We wish you all the best as you embark on your new journey together!!!

Lauren & Cody’s Downtown After-Shoot

Since it takes countless hours to go through and perfect every shot of the zillions of images we photograph at each wedding, I couldn’t bear having all of Lauren & Cody’s family and friends waiting on pins and needles back home. We went ahead and edited their After-Shoot first, so that everyone could see Lauren in her beautiful wedding gown! 🙂

Wedding photos coming soon…

Very Kind Review

Some very kind words from a gorgeous bride:

Chris is unbelievably amazing! First of all, I booked him a year and 4 months before my wedding with complete confidence after seeing his pictures online. My engagement pictures were in 35 degree weather in Charleston while visiting and he made us so comfortable we did not want to leave the shoot. We got the best pictures we have ever seen and used them on multiple occasions. We got so many compliments. I recommend doing an engagement shoot so you can have wonderful pictures to use at your wedding. He is very responsive to emails and very excited to be a part of your wedding, it makes you feel comfortable. My wedding was yesterday and he showed up early with a second shooter and all of his equipment. He had a smile on his face and began shooting immediately to avoid the impending rain. We got so many pictures in. His creative eye is unbeleivable, he is like an artist who just paints a canvas with a camera. I cannot believe his creativity and how quickly he can think of wonderful poses, pictures, etc. He puts you at ease and gives you just the right amount of direction so you aren’t looking like an idiot out there. He even brought me out in the middle of my reception in the pouring rain (with our permission) and took a picture in the rain to include the lanterns that we got and were rained out. It turned out to be the most dramatic and amazing picture we will ever have and I cherish it already. Chris memoried all of my family’s names and they were so impressed with his professionalism. He pays attention to detail and to the little things. He knows when to do silly pictures and when to take serious pictures at the same moment. He can deal with difficult parents with a smile on his face and still make you stay at ease on your stressful moment day. He is there in all the right moments and does a great mixture of candids and formals. The day after the wedding we did a “day after shoot” around the city of downtown Charleston. It was perfect. BEAUTIFUL!

Thank you so much for your thaughtful review, Lauren!!!

Charleston Center for Birds of Prey

The English poet and painter, William Blake, once said: “No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings.”

I’m a huge fan of the Charleston Center for Birds of Prey. It’s truly amazing what these wonderful folks do to rehabilitate these injured beauties, and get them back on their own wings.  Plus they educate us humans on how to be better stewards of the creatures who share our planed!

As part of their education program, a few times a year the organization hosts “Photography Day”. Wildlife photographers from all over are invited to a morning of learning about the birds in their care, and given photo oportunities that would be impossible in the wild.

Having been to several of these, I knew everything was going to be on the long end. So although I had my full kit in the car, I only carried 2 camera bodies and 2 lenses to the shoot: Nikon D4 with Nikkor 500mm f4G, and Nikon D4 with Nikkor 200-400mm f4G.  I mounted the 500mm to my tripod with the Wimberly Sidekick gimbal head.  The 200-400mm I hand-held.

It turned out to be a GORGEOUS day for shooting! We got to photograph 16 different species of birds from 8:30 until noon, including a surprise first-time appearance from a brood of adorable baby Barn Owls! Afterwards, a few of us convened at the Sewee Restaurant down at the corner to wrap up the fun with a good meal…and some home-made pecan pie!

Here are a few of my favorites…
