I’ll be photographing the 94th PGA Championship at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island next month:

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The field for the 94th PGA Championship is more than two-thirds filled with 113 players – featuring 33 major champions and 55 international contestants representing 16 countries who will compete Aug. 9-12, at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The 156-member field will be set Monday, July 30.

The PGA Championship perennially features the strongest and deepest international field of any major. Last year’s Championship included 98 of the top 100 members of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Defending Champion Keegan Bradley, who in 2011 became just the third player in nearly a century to win a major in his first attempt, heads a stellar list that converge for the first major golf championship in South Carolina history. The roster includes the first two major winners of this year – Masters Champion Bubba Watson and U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson. Among the field are 1993 PGA Champion Paul Azinger, along with two-time Masters Champion and current European Ryder Cup Captain Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain. They competed against each other in the 1991 Ryder Cup at The Ocean Course.

The major champions entered in the field include: Azinger; Rich Beem, Bradley, Mark Brooks, Angel Cabrera, Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke, Ben Curtis, John Daly, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman, Zach Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie, Davis Love III, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Shaun Micheel, Phil Mickelson, Geoff Ogilvy, Olazabal, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Webb Simpson,  Vijay Singh, David Toms, Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods and Y.E. Yang.

“We are less than 30 days from the start of the first major championship coming to South Carolina, and we are excited to be welcoming the world’s greatest players competing on what has been called ‘America’s Toughest Course’ for the Wanamaker Trophy,” said PGA Championship General Chairman Roger Warren. “We anticipate one of the greatest PGA Championships and a special experience for golf fans visiting from around the world.”

Every now and then, a very special couple comes along and lifts my spirits to new heights.  Gloria & Matthew are the kind of couple that, when in doubt give you hope, when in despair give you strength, and no matter the circumstance…you always leave their company feeling like a better version of yourself!

Cami & I had the distinct honor of photographing their beautiful wedding at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens last weekend.  This historic location has special meaning to both of them as the courted and shared many walks and picnics on the grounds over the years.  It was a beautiful, sunny, summer afternoon along the Ashley River.  Spirits were high, and emotions ran deep.  My favorite part of their day…well…I had TWO favorite parts!  🙂  One was right after Matthew arrived, when he and Gloria stood on opposite sides of the door to the bridal suite, exchanged gifts, and shared a prayer together.  The other was immediately after the ceremony when the two of them walked away from the crowd to simply soak in the moment and bask in the knowledge that they were FINALLY married after having waited FIVE LONG YEARS!  🙂

Deveaux Bank Seabird Sanctuary was established to protect significant nesting habitat of sea and shorebirds. Located at the mouth of the North Edisto River, between Seabrook & Edisto Islands, it often shifts in position and size due to changing currents and weather patterns.

Last week several of my photography friends (Frank, Kim, and Rufus) and I headed out to explore Deveaux Bank with amazing naturalist and nature photographer, Eric Horan, as our guide. We had a gorgeous day, got some great shots, had a ton of fun, and even lucked out with some wonderful dolphin sightings!

I had a fun day of corporate shoots today. My favorite was with Chris & Tim, new associates at Ogletree Deacons Law Firm! They both just started at the firm, although I had photographed Tim previously when he worked at a different firm.  As luck would have it, they happen to be from the same neighborhood, each with the same number of children about the same age, and good friends on top of all that! So we had a lot of fun joking around and coming up with the perfect “Blue Steel” pose for their new company head-shot. 🙂

I’ve had the utmost joy in photographing updated family portraits for the Nester family each year since back when they ever so kindly invited me into their lives to photograph their daughter’s beautiful wedding. Now Jeff & Suzanne have a beautiful little girl, and a bouncing baby boy on the way! 🙂 Plus Tyler & Meghan’s two handsome red-heads are growing like weeds!

Although they are all spread out now…Indiana, Alabama, and Illinois…they always gather together back here in Charleston each summer. I always look forward to seeing the Nester’s each year and re-connecting with my new-found friends!

Randy Disharoon is a husband, father, pastor, engineer, Merchant Marine, and a Director at Rexnord Corporation. He’s also my friend. But most recently he’s added “author” to that amazing list!

He’s finally completed the book “Race of Faith”. It’s in editing stages now and should be out soon. As the marketing for such a huge project begins ramping up, he needed pictures for the book cover, the new website, press releases, etc. So we got together yesterday morning and had some fun.  Here are a few of my favorites. 🙂

When Dolph came to pick Susan up for dinner at the Oak Steakhouse one night, he pulled out a photo he’d secretly had made of her Dad. Susan’s dad, who was in heaven at the time, had been a very specail man in her life. Dolph said “Susan, I wanted your Dad to be a part of this.” Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

Their gorgeous ceremony was held at the historic St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. Susan’s two uncles, her Dad’s brothers, walked her down the isle in a touching processional. And Father Ted led a beautiful service.

The reception followed down the street at the South Carolina Society Hall where all Dolph & Susan’s friends and family came out to help them celebrate! The evening was filled with fun, laughter, a heartfelt serenade by Dolph to his new bride, and even a great practical joke by groomsman Ward. 🙂

I’m pretty lucky when it comes to weather. But a couple days ago I had a rare thing happen…one of my shoots got rained out after just a couple clicks! But I’m so glad we rescheduled…today turned out to be absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

I met up with Carrie & Chris at one of my favorite spots on Folly Beach. It was a privilege getting to know them and meeting their adorable son, Lane. Many thanks to our wonderful friends, Brad & Anne-Magill, for recommending us to this wonderful family.  It’s so much fun to work with such nice people!!!  🙂

My friend and AMAZING designer, Erika Lynn, brought over her latest collection for me to photograph yesterday.  What unique and creative ideas she has!  In a few weeks she’s off to Italy to make some new connections.  So start looking for her custom products in some new fashion magazine one day!!!  🙂
