Brooke & Chadwick at Charlestowne Landing

I had SO MUCH FUN with Brooke & Chadwick on their adventurous engagement session in Charlestowne Landing!!! Here are a few favorites. I can’t wait to capture their amazing wedding celebration! 🙂

Pinckney Island NWR

During a rare day off, I combined a little mountain biking with a visit to Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge.

I’d heard amazing stories about the wildlife on this island near Hilton Head. And althrough I was only there for about an hour, the stories proved very true! One particular location, appropriately named Ibis Pond, is a rookery for white ibis and other wading birds. It was great to see such a thriving, natural habitat, in spite of its close proximity to the densely populated resort town next door!

Foggy Dawn at Savannah NWR

While visiting family in Hilton Head this weekend, I decided to pay an early morning visit to the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. With the thick fog and earie morning sun, I found some really neat images.

After shooting for a couple hours, I put the camera away and spent the rest of the morning mountain biking through all the remote trails and enjoying the natural beauty. What a great morning!!!

Evans Family on Kiawah Island

The Evans Family have been building their Dream Home on Kiawah Island for 5 years!

It’s been a pleasure photographing their family each summer. But when I arrived at their recently completed home, I could tell something was “different”. There was a feeling of relief and calm in the air that hadn’t been there when I’d arrive at their rental properties the last few summers. I’m so happy for Steve & Geraldine and their family…they are SO HAPPY…all settled in their new home!

It’s an absolutely stunning property…amazing architecture, beautiful landscaping, and a stunning view of the beach. We photographed a number of shots around their house before heading to the beach. It was so neat to see their youngest daughter really coming into her own…and the boys all grown up from last year.

Everyone had a great time and we got some fantastic images in the amazing late afternoon light!!!

Denver’s 1-Year Shoot on Sullivan’s Island

I think after a year on planet earth, we can safely say Denver likes it! 🙂

It’s been so much fun documenting all the changes in young Denver’s life during his first year. He is such a happy kid…so full of wonder and excitement at every new discovery! And what a joy to be able to continue my relationship with Lisa & Clay. From engagement to wedding…to starting their new family. I just couldn’t ask for two more wonderful people to call “friends”!

CONGRATULATIONS Lisa & Clay!!! He’s a keeper…

Hovik Family on Kiawah Island

There’s nothing sweeter than a family full of adorable kids!!!

Maybe it’s because, as my wife puts it, “you’re just a 10-year-old in a grown man’s body.” But I had a BLAST hanging out, laughing, and joking with the Hovik Family on Kiawah Island last night. Not only were the children a joy to play with, but the adults were all about having a good time too!  🙂

Jim & Barbara have been vacationing on Kiawah since their children were about as old as the grandchildren are now! But this was the first “real” family portrait session they’ve all done together. Plus it was Mom’s 70th birthday celebration. In the process of having so much fun together, we ended up with some wonderful family memories for them to remember this special time together!

Gravender Family on Isle of Palms

I received the sweetest review this morning! 🙂 Thank you so much, Mike & Maggie:

“Chris went over and above for our photo shoot for our family of 9….6 adults, 8 year old, 5 year old and an 18 mos old. The weather was on and off rain and we had a short window to accomplish the pictures on the beach. The professionalism was terrific –Chris captured not only posed pictures but so many candid shots that all were awesome! Even when the sprinkles started, he continued!!! He just knew what shots to focus on and how to accomplish what we wanted. We could not have been more pleased with all the work. The pictures were emailed to us so promptly and we were all thrilled. He captured the story of our family and our time together. What more could you ask for? We would call Chris and Cami in the future for pictures! Many thanks!”

Shelby Rogers Day at the Family Circle Cup

In case you missed it, August17th is now officially “Shelby Rogers Day”!!!

A celebration was held at the Family Circle Cup this morning where Charleston city officials red the official edict, marking this date in honor of the rising WTA tennis phenom who hails from our fair city. Shelby was all smiles as she accepted the honor, spoke to her fans, signed autographs, and played some exhibition tennis on the Club Court at the Family Circle Tennis Center.

Rising rapidly through the ranks this past year, Shelby has come close to cracking the top 100 in the rankings. Her next stop is the US Open. We look forward to great things to come from Shelby!!!

Savage Law Stingrays Hockey Promotion

It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Savage Law over the last few years. Andy Savage has a great sense of humor, and I always have a lot of fun working with their staff. Yesterday we did several shots to be used in an upcoming Stingrays Hockey promotion. We even got Rob Concannon, president of the Stingrays, to jump in on one!  🙂

Hamrick Family on Isle of Palms

It’s been 4 years since I first photographed the Hamrick family during their vacation on Folly Beach. I always enjoy catching up and seeing folks like Robin and her boys that I have fond memories with. The boys have grown…and multiplied! We had a great time yesterday when I met up with them on Isle of Palms. I come from a family of four boys myself…so we share a common bond! 🙂 I can’t wait until next time…

Sweigart Family on Kiawah Island

The other day I had the pleasure of photographing the Sweigart Family during their family vacation to Kiawah Island. Lauren, Kara, and Adam were the most engaged, respectful, and well-behaved kids I have ever worked with!!! We were able to get a huge variety of great images as a result.  I already can’t wait until next year!   🙂

Rachel & Dave’s Isle of Palms Wedding at Wild Dunes Resort

It’s been a BUSY year for Rachel & Dave! She just graduated nursing school earlier this year, they bought a house together, they moved, AND they somehow found time to plan their dream wedding!!!

Rachel & Dave were together for about 5 years when he asked her to be his bride, on a beautiful sailboat trip off the coast of Florida. Rachel is tall, beautiful young lady with an infectious smile. Dave is a handsome school teacher with a heart of gold. They fit together like pees and carrots! 🙂

Their beautiful ceremony was held in the picturesque South Lawn at the Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms. Except for a brief sprinkle, which swept in to cool things off and to give Rachel & Dave the proverbial luck it’s known for, we couldn’t have asked for a more amazing day. Everything from their personal vows to each other, to the special readings, to Dave’s Dad playing Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, everything was just perfect!

Just as unique and fun, Rachel & Dave’s reception was held at the stately Sweetgrass Pavilion. From their rock-star entrance, to Stan’s “extended” toast, to the Father & Daughter “Chicken Dance”, to the Pennsylvania Cookie Table, the list of unique and wonderful events made the evening a memorable one!

Many thanks to Wild Dunes Resort, Vanity Salon, Charleston Makeup, Rev. Peter Lanzillotta, and Creative Sound Events for everything they did. And a VERY special thank you to our friends Justin & Jennifer at JW Weddings & Events for their kind referral, and amazing talents!

To Rachel & Dave…CONGRATULATIONS!!! May God Bless your new journey together!
