This is National Wildlife Refuge Appreciation Week.
To kick off the week, the US Fish & Wildlife Service invited a few folks to visit the protected habitat and beautiful landscape that is Wassaw Island, GA. Located off the coast of Skidaway Island near Savannah, Wassaw Island is only accessible by boat. As part of the program, Joe Wiegand, the world’s premier Theodore Roosevelt reprisor, delighted us with his stories of days gone by.
