Stovall Family on Daniel Island

Capturing family moments is always a joy! I had the pleasure of photographing the Stovall Family this week at their stunning home overlooking the marsh on Daniel Island. It had been 8 years since they had family portraits done. But this year was special since their daughter is a rising high-school senior, and they wanted some senior portraits for her. The picturesque setting provided the perfect backdrop for this memorable session, creating a serene atmosphere that showcased the family’s love and connection.

Using my Nikon Z9 paired with the versatile Nikkor Z 24-120 f4 lens allowed me to capture the beautiful details and emotions during our time together. The natural light streaming through the trees was complemented by my Godox AD200 flashe, ensuring every shot was perfectly lit. I utilized a Glow EZ Lock Softbox to soften the light, creating a flattering and warm ambiance that highlighted their amazing smiles.

Throughout the session, we shared laughter and stories, making the experience not just about photography but about celebrating the family bonds. The Stovall Family’s warmth and enthusiasm were contagious, making it a truly enjoyable shoot for me, and making me feel like part of the family. I even kicked the soccer ball around with the boys while we waited for their daughter to change!

I’m grateful for the opportunity to create lasting memories for the Stovalls in such a breathtaking location…preserving these special moments for years to come!

Caloudas Family at Daniel Island Club

Cami and I love re-connecting with old friends.

We had the privilege of being Greg & Meghann’s neighbors for many years…as well as the honor of photographing their wedding! Even though we moved, and they moved, we still stay in touch. Last week we went over to their house for “portraits and dinner”.  🙂

In between brief showers, we captured some fun portraits of their beautiful family on the front porch. Then during another break in the weather, we zipped over to the Daniel Island Club for some shots with the dramatic post-storm sunset! While we were there, we picked up dinner and brought it back to their house for a lovely evening of fun fellowship!

Greg & Meghann are such wonderful humans…and we are grateful for their friendship!!!

Porch Portraits with the Caloudas Family

We’ve been good friends with Meghann & Greg since we were neighbors several years ago! From photographing their fur-baby, Sasha, to capturing their engagement photos on their boat in Charleston Harbor, to preserving all the beautiful moments of their their wedding…it’s always been a pleasure being a part of their lives. Ever since they moved to Daniel Island, we sure have missed their company!

After the COVID-19 pandemic began, many photographers started offering Porch Portraits (or “Porchaits”) around the country: https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2020/04/01/coronavirus-front-porch-photo-projects-show-how-families-cope/2928577001/. We haven’t been able to offer any. But when Meghann & Greg invited us to come over for a visit, and to shoot a few porch portraits while we were there, we loved the idea! While keeping our social-distancing by staying on the sidewalk and yard, we used telephoto lenses to photograph their beautiful growing family.  Hudson is absolutely the happiest and most adorable little boy I’ve ever met!  🙂

Afterwards we hung out and had a blast catching up. Hudson fell asleep. The moon climbed into the sky. And I got to photograph an immature bald eagle nearby.

THANK YOU so much for the lovely evening, Meghann & Greg! We will always cherish your friendship!!!
