It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Seamon Whiteside over the years. With exceptional leadership, innovative designers, and a dedicated team, the company continues to grow and expand from it’s roots in the lowcountry. Offices in Mt. Pleasant, Summerville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, Spartanburg, and Columbia are thriving. This weekend marked another milestone, as Seamon Whiteside marked the grand opening of their Asheville office!
I had the honor of photographing the Asheville staff, and the celebration they orchestrated to commemorate their newest location. It was a wonderful cocktail reception with distinguished guests from all over the upstate, including developers, architects, contractors, local dignitaries, and Seamon Whiteside staff from several offices. Live soulful Americana melodies were provided by Kevin Scanlon and company.
The event took place in the courtyard at The Foundry Hotel, 5-story boutique property under the Hilton Curio Collection. Opened in November 2018, it is an adaptive reuse project that transformed the historic site of the original Asheville Foundry & Supply Company. Located in “The Block,” a historically African American neighborhood in downtown Asheville, Asheville Foundry & Supply Company was a 19th-century steel factory that forged iron and steel used for local landmarks, including the famous Biltmore Estate. The renovation project preserves original architecture, including exposed red-brick facades, steel star fastenings, and an elevator pulley system.
