This week I felt like a kid again, heading back for my first day of school after summer break!!!

The Post & Courier was writing an article about Anita Huggins, Superintendent of the Charleston County School District. She has spent over 25 years working in the district as a teacher, principal, and leader, and took over the permanent superintendent role in January 2024. She has been doing an amazing job, and everyone seems to love her energy. She is closing opportunity gaps and raising literacy. She is providing better support and resources for teachers. She is expanding special education help. Under her leadership, numbers appear to be moving up in all categories around the lowcountry!

Since the P&C was sending a writer and photographer to follow Anita around as she visited a number of schools on their first day back after summer break, the CCSD marketing department decided to have me tag along as well. I’m so glad they did, because not only did I get to photograph a really fun day…but I also got to hang out and have fun with my good friend and amazing photographer, Grace, who was covering the assignment for the P&C!!! 🙂 I can’t wait to see her work and read the article when it comes out.
