This weekend my buddy Robbin Knight and I set out to photograph the “Super Moon”. Using The Photographer’s Ephemeris, I had calculated EXACTLY where/when the moon was going to rise, and had driven all over downtown to find the PERFECT spot for a dramatic shot over the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Alas, we stood out in the drizzle getting eaten by ‘skeeters to no avail. Cameras were aimed in the right spot, bridge perfectly framed, while the moon “invisibly” rose behind an impenetrable wall of cloud cover. So I took a page out of a painter’s handbook…photographed the “scene”, then added the moon from an image I’d taken the previous night at the Hootie & The Blowfish Concert. Here, then, is “reality” as it SHOULD have been if weather had cooperated!!!
