Jody & Gerald are Engaged!

I truly enjoyed hanging out with Jody & Gerald during their Engagement Shoot. I photographed Jodyā€™s sisterā€™s wedding a few years ago. So itā€™s been a real treat reuniting ties with her family and getting to know her better, and see what a beautiful young lady sheā€™s become. I knew Gerald & I were going to hit it off as soon as I met him with his famous baseball cap. If he could wear that thing at the wedding, he probably would. J Heā€™s so laid back, easy going, and fun to be around. Iā€™m SO EXCITED about being their wedding photographer!!!

Heather & Sam at Trinity United Methodist

Heather & Sam were married Saturday at the historic Trinity United Methodist Church. As a visual artist, I absolutely LOVE military weddings! šŸ™‚ Heather & Sam’s was no exception. They were both so photogenic, easy going, and wonderful to work with. Their reception was held at the Dunes West Club House. These are just a few of my favorites. Click Here to see the rest of their AMAZING story!

CONGRATULATIONS Heather & Sam!!!

Joy & Michael on the Carolina Girl

Joy & Michael had an AMAZING wedding celebration last weekend!!! Their day started out at the fabulous Wentworth Mansion…a beautiful and historic place I always love photographing in. They were married on the Carolina Girl Yacht with The Battery as our scenic backdrop. Camille did a fantastic job as usual orchestrating everything. All of Joy & Michael’s friends and family were on board to help them celebrate. So the party went on non-stop throughout the evening as Captain Bob and his crew took us on a romantic cruise all over Charleston Harbor.

Josette & Dante at The Citadel

I’ve been looking forward to Josette & Dante’s wedding for a long time! They are such a cool couple…truly into each other…yet so giving of each other to others. Read more about them and see their Engagement Portraits on their wedding website. They live in Charlotte now. But they absolutely LOVE the beauty and grandeur of Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus, so they decided that’s where they wanted to tie the knot!

I met up with Josette and her entourage at the Holliday Alumni Center. She was STUNNING in her wedding gown! Once everyone was ready we headed over to the courtyard outside the chapel for photos. It was a beautiful day and the lighting was fantastic outside. After Josette left, Dante arrived with his posse. He was looking sharp and ready for some fun. After photos with the guys we all moved inside for the ceremony. I just love how regal the inside of the sanctuary looks in photos…I love shooting weddings here. Afterwards we headed back over to the Alumni Center for an UNBELIEVABLE reception!!!

I just had a great time capturing all the fun flavor of Josette & Dante’s wedding day. Click Here to check out the rest of the photos. CONGRATULATIONS you two!!!

Erin & Jason at Harbor Club

Erin & Jason are friends of ours from St. Andrew’s Family Fitness Center where we work out. So it was extra special for me to be able to celebrate their wedding day with them AND capture all the joy of their Big Day!

It started at the Harborview Hotel with preparation photos of Erin, followed by their “First Glance” on the grand staircase. After that we spent some time in and around Waterfront Park creating some beautiful images. It was a gorgeous day, Jason was looking SHARP, and of course Erin was STUNNING in her wedding gown! We circled back around, ending up at the Harbor Club, where the wedding took place on the Pavilion as the sun was setting over the cityscape.

Later we noticed how dramatic the moon was that night. Erin & Josh were so adventurous and gladly slipped out with me to create an amazing image of them beside the Pineapple Fountain with the moon overhead! Click Here to check out the rest of their images. CONGRATULATIONS Erin & Jason!!!

Mandy & Jerry at St. Luke’s Chapel

Mandy & Jerry tied the knot last weekend! They are from the DC area, but Mandy went to CofC and Jerry lived in Goose Creek for a year during his Navy days. They both LOVE Charleston, so what better place to get married, right?

As always, Amanda of Southern Chic Weddings did a fantastic job of keeping everyone organized throughout the day. šŸ™‚ I first caught up with Mandy and the girls at the gorgeous Charleston Place Hotel for some preparation and preceramony photos. Then I headed over to St. Luke’s Chapel to meet up with the guys and do photos in the beautiful courtyard over there. After the ceremony we zipped over to Waterfront Park for some really fun shots of the wedding party before ending up at the Old Exchange Building for the reception. Click Here to see the rest of the photos!

I had a FANTASTIC time with everyone! Mandy & Jerry couldn’t keep their eyes off each other, which I love! What an honor for me to be a part of their special day. CONGRATULATIONS you guys!!!

Katelyn & Seth

I SO enjoyed getting to know Katelyn & Seth and working with them throughout their wedding planning process. (Many thanks to the beautiful Rachel Clark for recommending us!) They are both really creative individuals! Katelyn even had a hand in designing her beautiful and unique wedding gown with Lula Kate’s, which I LOVED! And Seth, with his mad graphic design skills, personalized the cover of their Photo Guest Book, containing their favorite images from the Engagement & Bridal Shoots I had photographed earlier.

They were married at John Wesley United Methodist by the fun-loving Rev. Gary Phillips. And their reception was at the Elks Lodge in West Ashley with Sinclair, The Music Maker, keeping things hopin‘. Their friends and family were so much fun and the PACKED house of guests really let their hair down and had a great time. Click Here to see the rest of their photos!!!

Katelyn & Seth, it truly was an HONOR to be a part of your special day. Growing up as neighbors and sweethearts has given you a very special bond. Cherish that gift!

Susan & Henry are Married

Susan & Henry have a really AMAZING story! Childhood sweethearts, they drifted apart and went their separate ways in life. After many life-circumstances, they were eventually re-introduced by their brothers. And they’ve been inseparable ever since! šŸ™‚

Although they live in Kentucky now, Susan lived in Charleston for many years. And Henry, with his fun-loving laid-back personality, is quite at home in the south. So they decided to tie the know down here. Their ceremony was held at the beautiful First Baptist Church and led by the always gracious Pastor Blalock. Flowers were provided by Lisa Ferguson. And coordinating was done by Lori Lethco.

I really enjoyed getting to know Susan and Henry. I could TRULY feel the deep connection between these two. It was an honor being a part of this special moment in their lives. Visit their Online Gallery to see the rest of the images. CONGRATULATIONS you two!!!

Mindy & Eric are Married!

Mindy & Eric came to us as referrals from Kelly & Aaron, who’s wedding we shot a few years ago. Apparently Mindy told Kelly “I’ve just GOT to have your photographer and your band!” šŸ˜‰

Even though they live in Atlanta, Mindy & Eric came back for a really fun e-Session on the beach last year. I had a great time getting to know them and just hangin’ out that afternoon with the beautiful evening sunlight.

The wedding day started out at Charleston Place Hotel where Mindy and the girls were getting ready. I love shooting there with it’s history, charm, and beautiful scenery. We even snuck into an open conference room I noticed was unlocked and got some dramatic pictures in the open window! The ceremony was at the historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church. If memory servers correctly, it was the first Catholic Church in South Carolina! The sanctuary is just GORGEOUS! The reception was held at the Harbor Club…another beautiful venue. I love how they kept all the original brick walls, giving it a unique ambiance. Click Here to see the rest of their photos.

Mindy was STUNNING in her cathedral-length gown, Eric was clearly on top of the world, and everyone was so pleasant and fun to be around. I had so much fun at their wedding. CONGRATULATIONS Mindy & Eric!

Kerri & Wes are Married

I first met up with Kerri & Wes when I was in their hometown of Columbia shooting a wedding. Kerri is an AMAZING athlete and gymnastics instructor. Wes is a very creative and GIFTED musician! They had their wedding here at Alhambra Hall overlooking Charleston Harbor. Many thanks to Erin, Wes’ sister-in-law, for being a guest at another wedding I’d photographed here a few years ago and recommending us to Kerri & Wes. šŸ™‚ The ceremony was beautiful out under the Oak Tree on the Grand Lawn. And the Reception was one ROCKIN’ good time, highlighted by Wes and the old gang taking over for the band and jamming to every one’s delight! Click Here to check out their gallery of images. CONGRATULATIONS Kerri & Wes!!!

Photography on IOP Beach is Illegal

Since Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island have passed ordinances making it illegal to have professional photographs taken on their beaches, we’ve had to find alternative locations for our vacationing clients. I know…it’s hard to believe that ANY town would put a ban on creating beautiful family photos that show the bonds of love, and preserve such special times in a family’s history. But that’s EXACTLY what they’re doing. Here’s a link: http://www.iop.net/FAQs.aspx.

Many of these families are made up of multiple generations, all coming from different areas of the country, who rarely see each other all together like this. And when an older matriarch or patriarch is involved, who knows when the NEXT time will happen that they’ll all be together again?!? So a portrait to commemorate the occasion holds a great deal of weight.

Fortunately for the Henley family, the beach house they rented sat on a beautiful property with lots of nice landscaping. So we were able to photograph their session without them leaving. Here’s a fun one of all the grand kids goofing off. šŸ˜‰ Still, they didn’t get any images on the beach…kind of the whole idea behind renting a beach house! Other families are forced to make the choice to drive all the way to Folly Beach…the nearest town without such a ban on it’s beaches.
