Katelyn & Seth’s 5-Year Anniversary Shoot

I remember Katelyn & Seth’s beatiful wedding like it was just last week! So when they called to say “Hi” and tell me they were coming up on their 5-year Anniversary, I was blown away!!!

They wanted to do a fun, romantic 5-year Anniversary Shoot. So of course I was all for it! In Katelyn’s words: “Since we still like each other after 5 years, we thought it would be safe to get a few more shots together.” 😉

Sellentin Family Dodges a Thunderstorm on Kiawah Island

Summer afternoon thunderstorms are a natural part of our schedule in Charleston! Many times, they clean the sky, cool the air, and leave beautiful cloud formations in their wake that create dramatic sunsets. But occasionally, one will blow through at an inappropriate time.

A huge storm with gail force winds and driving rain blew in about an hour before the Sellentin family beach session was scheduled. Fortunately, Kristen and her family were very easy going and flexible. So we quickly rescheduled for the next morning and were rewarded with the most BEAUTIFUL of days!!!

We had a great time! And the pictures turned out great!!! It’s always so nice to work with families that are this much fun and willing to bend with the breezes…

Muro Family on Isle of Palms

What fun! Hanging out with the Muro family again this summer…now their 40th Anniversary together…was such a pleasure. With their family growing like weeds, I can’t wait to see everyone next year!!! 🙂

Head Shots for Dr. Estes

This morning I had the pleasure of photographing some new head-shots and marketing photos for Dr. Estes of Southern Orthopedics & Sports Medecine. My friend and colleague, Stephen Roland, who does all their marketing, was a huge help. He set everything up and even picked out this awesome location!!!

Nester Family on Seabrook Island

Every year since I photographed Jeff & Suzanna’s beautiful wedding many years ago, their family returns from the mid-west to vacation together on Seabrook Island. Each year I have the honor and pleasure of photographing their growing family again. We always have so much fun together!  They are such a warm, inviting, generous, kind, and beautiful group of people. They always make me feel like I’m part of the family. I love these guys and already can’t wait to see them again next year!!! 🙂

Scott’s Executive Portraits – Downtown Charleston

The other day I had the pleasure of working with Scott to create a series of executive portraits, head shots, environmental portraits for his new law firm!

Well known in his specialty of family law, Scott is very professional, incredibly intelligent, but easy-going and unassuming. We had a great time walking around the historic areas of town. His lovely wife, Ashley, set the shoot up and came along to help with art direction…and to keep Scott smiling. 🙂

Many thanks to my good friend and fellow photographer, Leigh Webber (www.leighwebber.com), for the kind referral!!!

Amy Lynn & Benji at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island

Every once in a while, I get to meet a very special people. Amy Lynn & Benji were just souch a couple. After 19 years and 5 kids together, they STILL have that “spark”!!! 🙂

Taking a break to ditch the kids…er…I mean to reconnect with each other, they asked me to do a fun photo shoot with them while they were here on vacation. Having met in seminary, Benji and Amy Lynn are an instrumental part of the leadership at New Hope Church in NC.

God Bless you guys as you continue to serve together!

Sandy & Ben’s Folly Beach Wedding

I love being a part of small, intimate, weddings and elopements!

Sandy & Ben’s wedding this past weekend was a relaxed, but honest and heart-felt celebration of love and family. We met at the historic Morris Island inlet, where a beautiful ceremony was followed by a fun photo shoot to commemorate the joining of these two families!

CONTRATULATIONS Sandy & Ben! And THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of your special day!!!

Violet & Steve at Mile High Station in Denver

Last weekend I had so much fun photographing Violet & Steve’s beautiful wedding at the historic Mile High Station in Denver, CO!

They were a referral from my good friends Bill & Kelli Nixon (www.kellinixon.com)…many thanks for connecting us! When Violet and Steve contacted me, I could tell we were a perfect fit. They are just as fun-loving and young-at-heart as I am!!! 🙂

My good friend Stan Foxworthy (www.foxworthystudios.com), who was out there visiting his family, came out to help me and join in the fun! We had a great time working together, and coming up with so many creative shots. A big thanks goes out to Stan!

The wedding day turned out to be beautiful and perfect! Located next door to the Sports Authority Field, the Mile High Station has a wonderful history as a steel and manufacturing facility during WWI and WWII. The old brick walls and eclectic interior was so much fun to work with!

Everything went off without a hitch, and everyone had a BLAST at Violet & Steve’s big celebration! CONGRATULATIONS you two!!! 🙂

Colorado Railroad Museum

While in Denver, my friend Stan and I went to visit the Colorado Railroad Museum (www.coloradorailroadmuseum.org).

The museum was established in 1959 to preserve a record of Colorado’s flamboyant railroad era, particularly the state’s pioneering narrow gauge mountain railroads. It has a large collection of 3-ft narrow gauge rolling stock. Plus it has the oldest known surviving standard gauge steam locomotive. But the most impressive to me is that they have the oldest known “operational” steam locomotive as well!

With all that gritty iron work, I thought it would be fun to try a few HDR images. And of course, how can you not shoot a few old-school black-and-whites as well. 🙂 We had a BLAST! I hope you enjoy…

Lighting Up Denver!!!

During my visit to Denver, my good friend and fellow photographer, Bill Nixon (www.kellinixon.com), invited Stan Foxworthy (www.foxworthystudios.com), and I to join him and local stand out photographers, Gary & Janea (www.janeasmithphotography.com), on a fun photo shoot with the lovely Rylie as our model.

Since we were doing the shoot at City Park in downtown Denver, Stan also arranged with his former contacts at the adjoining Museum of Nature & Science for us to shoot up on their observation deck at sunset.

We had an awesome time and worked with a lot of off-camera lighting techniques to create some really fun and beautiful images. Stan, Gary, and Janea shot with Canon, Bill and I with Nikon…proving yet again that indeed we can all get along splendidly! 🙂

Dana & Adam’s Wedding at the Daniel Island Club

First of all, I LOVE THIS FAMILY!!! Last year I had the honor of photographing Dana’s sister’s wedding (Hi Rachel & Steve!). Then Dana asked me if I would photograph her & Adam’s wedding! How could I say no? Their family is just so full of joy and fun and have the same quirky sense of humor I do. (Plus Dana realized what a giant teddy bear I am and that she’d be able to talk me into any number of her crazy Pinterest ideas…HA!)

Their wedding day turned out absolutely gorgeous! Not too hot…not too overcast…just right! We laughed a lot, teared up a lot, and every emotion in between. It truly was a special day…the kind of wedding I live for!

CONGRATULATIONS Dana & Adam! You guys are AMAZING together!!! We wish you all the best as you begin your new journey together…
