Maui 25th Anniversary Celebration

While exploring the famed Red Sand Beach in Hana on the island of Maui, we met this wonderful couple that was there celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary! So we did a fun impromptu photo shoot for them and their beautiful family. 🙂

Incentive Event in Hawaii

Last week I had the opportunity to join an all-star team of amazing photographers to document all the action and adventures of a really neat corporate incentive trip on the island of Maui. While there, we took the opportunity to spend a few extra days driving the famed Road to Hana, hiking in Haleakala National Park, relaxing with Hawaiian green sea turtles on Ho-okipa Beach, and photographing the amazing sunset from the dormant volcano’s picturesque summit.

100th Anniversary of the Edward C Levy Co

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photograhing a milestone celebration. The Edward C Levy Co is 100 years old!!!

“Inspiration and commitment were the driving forces that gave Levy its start in 1918. It’s the technology that we discover, explore, and apply that has earned Levy the reputation as a true innovator in industries around the globe.”

Many thanks to Judi and her team at The Anniversary Company for organizing this fun company picnic to commemorate the occasion.

Dustin’s Surprise Proposal to Ashley at Waterfront Park

I’m SO EXCITED to share a few favorites from Dustin & Ashley’s Secret Proposal this evening!!!

Ashley & Dustin live in Nashville, where they met through mutual friends. Dustin is a manager at Lucchese Boots. Ashley practices law. In fact, she lived in Charleston for a bit while attending the Charleston School of Law. Which is why Dustin thought this would be the PERFECT place to propose!

He began scheming and planned a fun get-away for the two of them to visit the Holy City. She thought it was just a fun get-away so that she could show him all her favorite old haunts. But he had secretly asked her father’s permission to marry his daughter, had talked to all her closest friends to get ideas, had set up a fake Pinterest account so that he could see what kind of rings she liked, and had even contacted me about photographing it!

We spent weeks planning out every detail. Finally the big day arrived…and everything worked out perfect 🙂

CONGRATULATIONS Ashley & Dustin! You are a very special couple. I’m so happy that each of you will soon get to marry your best friend!!!

Cody’s Proposal to KC at Magnolia Plantation

Cody is an AMAZING guy. And he’s head over heals in love with KC!!! He and I have spent the last few weeks going back and forth to plan and prepare, making sure everything would be perfect for his Surprise Proposal to KC. 🙂

The big day finally arrived. Earlier this morning, on a beautiful summer day, on the magical white bridge at the picturesque Magnolia Plantation, Cody asked KC to be his bride!!!

Afterwards, we wandered around the gorgeous grounds, photographing their AUTHENTIC Engagement Session. KC is absolutely gorgeous! I can see why Cody is smitten. But the truth is, their love runs even deeper. Finishing each other’s sentences, stealing knowing glances at each other, laughing quietly and hugging each other as we explored avenues of oaks draped in Spanish moss…I could tell these two truly share something special!

Visit http://chrisandcami.zenfolio.com/kcandcody to see more of their delightful photos.

CONGRATULATIONS Cody & KC!!! We wish you two all the best as you begin your new journey together!

Nester Family on Seabrook Island

The Nester family is one of my all-time-favorites!!!

I look forward to their family reunion on Seabrook Island every year! This is partly because I know what fond memories those cousins are forming during their time together. But it’s also because I get to go out and play with these six adorable kids!

Earlier this week we had another wonderful session together. It was great catching up with Suzanna & Jeff, who’s gorgeous wedding I had the pleasure of photographing oh so many years ago (age withheld to protect the innocent). I always enjoy discovering what new and exciting things Meghan & Tyler are up to. Hearing about Rick & Carol’s travels and adventures is always fun too.

But the best part is just goofing off and hanging out with those delightful grandchildren!!!  🙂

Muro Family on Isle of Palms

We had another EPIC Muro Family Photo Shoot the other day!!!

Susan and Greg have been vacationing on IOP each summer with all their kids and grand kids. It’s been such an honor to capture updated family portraits for them whenever they are in town. Watching their family grow and bond together has been such a joy for me. And I love how they always make ME feel like part of their family!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Lauren & Dan’s Wedding at Tanglewood Plantation

Dan & Lauren’s wedding was extra special to me because of the shared African Connection!

I was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cami and I have also traveled to Tanzania a couple of times. So when Lauren contacted us about photographing her wedding to Dan, a wonderful man she met and fell in love with while working in Kenya, I was absolutely THRILLED!!!

“That’s awesome that you were born in the Congo and have been back to visit Africa!! It’s a beautiful continent. I work with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, specifically with programs that empower women and girls from marginalized communities. I also teach some theology classes at the Presbyterian University in Nairobi to folks who are preparing to enter pastoral ministry. I love it!! I lived in Kenya for the first time the year I graduated from college, and I have loved it ever since. Dan is Kenyan – we met back in 2009 when I was serving as a student minister in Nairobi during my last year of seminary. We spent a lot of time in (really) long distance while I served a church in New Jersey, and he worked in Nairobi. Then I moved back to Kenya last year – and now we’re getting married in June! We couldn’t be more excited!!!”

Dan & Lauren were married at the picturesque Tanglewood Plantation. Their celebration was a bland of African culture and American tradition. It was so cool to not only capture the joining of these two beautiful people in love, but also witness the coming together of two families from different continents.

Many thanks to my good friend and amazing photographer Steve Roos for the kind referral, to Bailey Stone of By Invitations Only for keeping everything running smoothly, Southern Way Catering for the delicious food, Emerald Empire Band for the awesome music, Brian Urbish at Tanglewood Plantation, and all the other wonderful people who had a hand in making this magical day come true.

CONGRATULATIONS Lauren & Dan! An African wedding blessing we used to say is “Where there is love there is no darkness.” May your hearts always be full of light as you begin your new journey together!

Headshots for Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd is expanding and has brought a new attorneys to their Charleston office. It was my privilege to photograph Tyler’s headshot today during his first day on the job. Welcome to the team!!! I also got to photograph an updated head-shot for Bachman, who has been with the company for many years.

We photograph their portraits on high-key backgrounds so that the company’s graphic designers can knock them out and replace them with a stock image. It’s a really cool look! Check out the finishe product at http://hsblawfirm.com/attorneys.

New Orleans Aerials

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing an EXCITING assignment in New Orleans! For security reasons, I can’t share those photos. But I did manage to get a few fantastic aerial views of the city during some down time.

The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, also called St. Louis Cathedral, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans and is the oldest cathedral in what would become the United States. The first church on the site was built in 1718; the third, built in 1789, was raised to cathedral rank in 1793. The cathedral was expanded and largely rebuilt in 1850, with little of the 1789 structure remaining.

The second is a view of the Mississippi River and downtown New Orleans over Woldenberg Park. Woldenberg Park was created in the late 1980s/early 1990s on land that had been occupied by old wharves and warehouses along the Mississippi Riverfront, in the upper French Quarter. It is named after philanthropist Malcolm Woldenberg (1896–1982) who helped fund the building of it.

Both images captured with a DJI Mavic Pro.

Lauman Family on Kiawah Island

Photographing Jen & Bobby’s beautiful wedding 10 years ago was the highlight of my year! I absolutely fell in love with these two. They were even featured in a magazine: https://chrisandcami.com/jezebel-magazine-2/!!!

Fast forward to yesterday, and the same emotions flooded back as I had the joy of photographing their beautiful growing family. With two adorable boys, and joined by excited grandparents, we all met up at the picturesque Ocean Park on Kiawah Island.

I had so much fun catching up with their busy lives. What an honor it is to still be a part of their lives after all these years!

John’s Retirement Roast on Kiawah Island

I haven’t laughed so hard, nor choked back so many tears, as I did at John’s wonderful Retirement Roast this weekend!

As a full-time professional event photographer in Charleston, I am so privileged to be invited into the most touching, most beautiful, most powerful, and most important occasions in people’s lives. Denise put on an AMAZING retirement party for her husband. All his closest friends and colleagues made the trek out to the Kiawah Island Club at River Course to celebrate this man, his integrity, his leadership, and his impact on their lives.

CONGRATULATIONS John on all your accomplishments!!!
