Laura & Kyle Do It on Folly Beach

After courting her for a while, Kyle proposed to Laura over Christmas last year. Soon wedding plans were in full swing and through their fabulous wedding planner, Emmy at Peacock Events, I was the lucky photographer they picked to cover their special day! J Laura is a teacher…and you all KNOW how much I love and respect teachers! Her and Kyle live in Greer, where they’ll be returning after their fabulous Jamaica Honeymoon. Laura & Kyle rented a beautiful home on the marsh side of Folly beach where they could do their “I Do’s”. As it turns out, it was the home of my good friend and fellow photographer, Charlie Thiel!!! The late afternoon summer showers held off juuuust long enough for the ceremony and a few photos on the lawn. And they didn’t dampen the fun atmosphere and crazy party that ensued! Brittainy & Nate at St. Luke’s Chapel

I first met Brittainy & Nate last August. They are friends of Whitney & Ryan, as well as Amy & Seth, both of whom I photographed their weddings. So I owe a HUGE thank you to these guys for encouraging Brittainy & Nate to check out our website. I’m so glad I got a chance to work with them and preserve all these beautiful moments of their special day! I had SUCH a hard time narrowing down my favorites for the blog!!! J

Brittainy & Nate were married at St. Luke’s Chapel…one of my favorite churches in town. I love the dramatic wooden rafters and quaint courtyard. Brittainy went to MUSC Pharmacy School, so the chapel, which is located on MUSC campus and is affiliated with the school, was a great choice. Chaplain George Rossi, also of MUSC, did a beautiful job with their ceremony. Afterwards, Brittainy & Nate made a stop down at Waterfront Park for some really cool portraits. I LOVE IT when a couple appreciates what I do enough to give me just a few moments alone with them so that we can create something special together!!! Afterwards we met everyone at Cottage on the Creek for a fun-filled evening reception. One of my favorites is this last shot of them on the top deck at dusk with Shem Creek below and the dramatic sky behind them. David & Megan’s Storybook Design

Cami & I had so much fun at David & Megan’s New England Destination Wedding in Fairhaven, just outside Boston, earlier this year. So I thought I’d share a few pages from the layout of their new Storybook that we just finished designing. We’ve used a number of different design programs over the years…from good old Photoshop to You Select It to Soho Styler and more. But by far our favorite new tool is FotoFusion by LumaPix. Enjoy…

Lisa & Clay’s Charleston Wedding at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church

I have had such an honor getting to know Lisa & Clay over the past year. Their wedding last weekend will stay with me forever! Lisa is a teacher here in Charleston. Clay is a speech therapist. So they both have a huge heart for helping kids. They are both such genuine, sweet, and compassionate individuals…you couldn’t find a more adorable couple! When I first met them, they’d been dating about a year. Their friend Lizzie gets props for inviting Lisa to join St. Michael’s where they met. And their friend Charlotte had the honor of introducing them. Clay picked her ring out on his own (it’s GORGEOUS!) and totally surprised her by taking her up to the church bell-tower right at sunset and proposing to her. I’m a hopeless romantic at heart…so stories like this really get me. J

The wedding day was absolutely perfect. My good friend and fellow photographer, Kellie McCann, joined me on the big day. We met up with the girls at The Marriott where they were getting ready. The ceremony was at the beautiful and historic St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. Afterwards we did wedding party photos at White Point Gardens on The Battery. Tara & Will at the Daniel Island Club

Tara & Will were married on a gorgeous day overlooking the marsh at the beautiful Daniel Island Club. Tara is from Aiken but moved to Charleston. Will is from Florida, but moved to Charlotte. Even though they’ve been dating for like 3 or 4 years now, Tara & Will have never really lived in the same place. They will start their new life together in Charlotte after the wedding…finally together in the same town! J

Kelly & Aaron’s 3-Year Anniversary

Cotton Dock Remote

Last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Heather & Josh’s wedding at Boone Hall Plantation for our good friends Bill & Kelli Nixon. The ceremony was held at the rustic Cotton Dock. What a cool venue for a wedding! I arrived early, as usual, and noticed the decorators were draping these long, silky, white sheets over the huge wooden rafters. Seeing those rafters gave me the idea to mount a remote camera from one of the rafters to get this cool angle. In the first photo you can see the D300 with 10.5mm Fisheye super-clamped to the rafter looking strait down. The second shot is an image from the remote camera, which I fired with a set of PocketWizards. Fun Stuff!!!

Josh & Ashley’s “Destin” Destination Wedding

Ashley & Josh were married last weekend in a beautiful Destination Wedding on the pure white sands of Destin, Florida. (Check out their Music Video at www.chrisandcami.com/blog.) I went for a walk on the beach the morning of their wedding and the turquiose waters of the Gulf of Mexico stretching as far as the eye could see! They had rented a gorgeous Spanish mansion across from the beach which was transformed into the perfect reception site. Between the dramatic architecture of the mansion, the amazing scenery on the beach, and how beatiful Ashley looked in her flowing white wedding gown…the whole day was like visual candy to my camera! Top that off with how genuine, friendly, and full of life all their friends and family were…well…let’s just say I had a BLAST!!! J

I first met Ashley at Whitney & Ryan’s wedding on Seabrook Island last year. So a HUGE “thank you” goes to Whitney for introducing me to Ashley! Whitney was also a bridesmaid in Ashley’s wedding, so it was great to see her again and catch up. Ashley & Josh honeymooned in The Bahamas before returning home to Dallas, Georgia. I tip my hat to Ashley as she is a 4^th grade teacher there…I have the utmost respect for teachers and think they should get paid what lawyers get paid! CONGRATULATIONS to Ashley & Josh…you guys ROCK!!!

Jody & Gerald at St. Mark’s UMC

Several years ago I photographed Jody’s sister’s wedding. So I was truly honored when Jody and her Mom decided to hire us to photograph HER wedding too! If you’ve been following the blog, you’ve already seen Jody’s beautiful Bridal Shoot and Jody & Gerald’s fun Engagement Shoot. So I knew before their wedding day arrived that THIS was going to be an awesome wedding!!! Jody & Gerald have been together for about 3 years. They actually met at a NASCAR race…how cool is that?!? They were married at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Debbie at Country and Lace did a great job on the bouquets and flower arrangements. Their reception was held at the picturesque Charleston Yacht Club where Claire did a wonderful job keeping everything organized. Believe it or not, Jody’s dad actually handed Gerald the keys to his new red Dodge Charger so they could drive to the reception in STYLE! Dale must like his new son-in-law an awful lot! The reception was full of energy and excitement. Eddie “L” from Pro Wedding Entertainment did an amazing job as always. And the folks at Beyond Expectations kept the food stations fresh and tasty.

Some of my favorite images came at dusk when Jody & Gerald joined me for a little walk out on the docks to create some dramatic images with the sunset and the sailboat masts in the background. After the sun went down and we turned to head back in, a gorgeous moon was rising in the east! Serendipity is a beautiful thing! CONGRATULATIONS Jody & Gerald. You guys are THE BEST!!!

Kathryn & Mack at the Grande Dunes Ocean Club

Kathryn & Mack flew all the way from Texas to tie the knot at the gorgeous Grande Dunes Ocean Club in Myrtle Beach. Mack is originally from here, so it was a joyful homecoming for him! I had the pleasure of working with the always AMAZING Elizabeth of Grand Occasions, as well as my favorite florist in the world, Mark Gladden of M Gladden Designs. It was the most beautiful day you could imagine. I had gorgeous light to work with. And Mack & Kathryn were so IN LOVE and IN THE MOMENT!!!
