The Blacks at Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms

July 28, 2012

A couple months ago, Brenda wrote and said “I looked at your website and your pictures are beautiful! We were really wanting to get beach pictures of the family.” I love it when people are so sweet and kind!

So Brenda and her family came down from Greer this past week for vacation. It was fun to finally meet everyone. We had a GREAT time and created some beautiful images together…especially of their little super-model, Ana!!! :-)

Roxann & Michael on Sullivan’s Island

July 25, 2012

“…I want beautiful beach pictures. I viewed your work and was just taken back at how beautiful and creative they are…”

These were Roxann’s words when she first contacted us from upstate New York about photographing her beautiful destination wedding on the beach in front of the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivan’s Island. How could I say anything to such a sweet comment except “I’d love to be there for you guys!!!”

Roxann & Michael tied the knot last weekend. The forecast was “iffy” at best. But we bravely moved forward and were rewarded with some incredibly dramatic skies and gorgeous light to work with! They were so much fun, as were their families and friends who came from so far to help them celebrate.  Their reception was held at the gorgeous Sheraton Charleston Airport Hotel.

CONGRATULATIONS Roxann & Michael! May God Bless your new journey together…

July 23, 2012

High-Purity Standards has proudly served the scientific community for the past twenty years with high quality spectrometric standards and reference materials for AAS, ICP, ICP-MS, GC, GC-MS and IC, and has now expanded stocked reference materials to include ISO Guide 34 multi-component organic reference materials.

Cami & I are honored to have had a long-time relationship with such a well-respected company in their field!

Ladies Only on Folly Beach

July 14, 2012

It’s been TEN YEARS since these five sisters and their gorgeous 81 year old mother, Ruth, have been together. So the ladies all hatched a plan to take a vacation together on Folly Beach last week! No husbands, no kids, just quality time with each other and their mother.

Since my family is also spread out around the country, it was very special for me to be a part of capturing the memories for these beautiful ladies. We all had a BALL together!!!

Eric’s Proposal to Amanda at Boone Hall Plantation

July 13, 2012

Eric is a hopeless romantic at heart! I KNOW…because it takes one to know one. :-) He and I have been scheming for weeks about the coolest place for him to ask Amanda to be his wife. Being from out of town, I told him about lots of cool places in Charleston. But we both agreed it would be really cool to do under the famous Avenue of Oaks at Boone Hall Plantation!!!

The morning of the big day arrived. I was nervous, Eric was nervous, and Amanda didn’t have a clue!!! ;-) I arrived early and set up my Nikkor 200-400VR lens on a D300, making it an effective 300-600 f4! Using Google Maps, Eric & I had arranged a spot for him to do his magic. So I know where they would be and hid behind the main gate for the perfect view of the momentous event.

Everything went PERFECT! Afterwards Eric told Amanda he’d had the whole thing photographed. Yes, he had managed to pull off several sneaky secrets on her! After a few good laughs, we spend the morning photographing their Engagement Session.

What a beautiful couple and a heart-warming way for me to start my day. CONGRATULATIONS Eric & Amanda!!!

Preparing for 94th PGA Championship

July 10, 2012

I’ll be photographing the 94th PGA Championship at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island next month:

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The field for the 94th PGA Championship is more than two-thirds filled with 113 players – featuring 33 major champions and 55 international contestants representing 16 countries who will compete Aug. 9-12, at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The 156-member field will be set Monday, July 30.

The PGA Championship perennially features the strongest and deepest international field of any major. Last year’s Championship included 98 of the top 100 members of the Official World Golf Rankings.

Defending Champion Keegan Bradley, who in 2011 became just the third player in nearly a century to win a major in his first attempt, heads a stellar list that converge for the first major golf championship in South Carolina history. The roster includes the first two major winners of this year – Masters Champion Bubba Watson and U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson. Among the field are 1993 PGA Champion Paul Azinger, along with two-time Masters Champion and current European Ryder Cup Captain Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain. They competed against each other in the 1991 Ryder Cup at The Ocean Course.

The major champions entered in the field include: Azinger; Rich Beem, Bradley, Mark Brooks, Angel Cabrera, Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke, Ben Curtis, John Daly, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover, Retief Goosen, Padraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman, Zach Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie, Davis Love III, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy, Shaun Micheel, Phil Mickelson, Geoff Ogilvy, Olazabal, Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Webb Simpson,  Vijay Singh, David Toms, Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods and Y.E. Yang.

“We are less than 30 days from the start of the first major championship coming to South Carolina, and we are excited to be welcoming the world’s greatest players competing on what has been called ‘America’s Toughest Course’ for the Wanamaker Trophy,” said PGA Championship General Chairman Roger Warren. “We anticipate one of the greatest PGA Championships and a special experience for golf fans visiting from around the world.”

Limited tickets to the 94th PGA Championship remain for both practice and competition days. For more information, visit www.PGA2012.com.

The PGA Championship perennially features the most ranked players among any major championship and has brought together the most international competitors in any U.S. major. Golf’s best professionals have been competing for more than 90 years for the Championship’s coveted Wanamaker Trophy. Past Champions span both the legendary and recent stars of the game: Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, and Padraig Harrington.

Gloria & Matthew at Magnolia Gardens

July 7, 2012

Every now and then, a very special couple comes along and lifts my spirits to new heights.  Gloria & Matthew are the kind of couple that, when in doubt give you hope, when in despair give you strength, and no matter the circumstance…you always leave their company feeling like a better version of yourself!

Cami & I had the distinct honor of photographing their beautiful wedding at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens last weekend.  This historic location has special meaning to both of them as the courted and shared many walks and picnics on the grounds over the years.  It was a beautiful, sunny, summer afternoon along the Ashley River.  Spirits were high, and emotions ran deep.  My favorite part of their day…well…I had TWO favorite parts!  :-)   One was right after Matthew arrived, when he and Gloria stood on opposite sides of the door to the bridal suite, exchanged gifts, and shared a prayer together.  The other was immediately after the ceremony when the two of them walked away from the crowd to simply soak in the moment and bask in the knowledge that they were FINALLY married after having waited FIVE LONG YEARS!  :-)

CONGRATULATIONS Gloria & Matthew!  May God Bless you as you journey together, and walk in the love of the Lord!!!
