Family Portraits at The Sanctuary

Sabrina & John enjoy vacationing at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. But this is the first time they’ve been back with the kids. So they called us to photograph their VERY FIRST family portrait session on the beach. Since it had rained on their wedding day, we also did a mini Trash-the-Dress session at the end…woohoo! ๐Ÿ™‚

Kiawah Island Photography

I had a fun shoot with the Mayo family on Kiawah Island. It rained all afternoon and was still sprinkling when I arrived so we were really worried the beach photography session we had planned wasn’t going to happen. But after a few “backup” images in the beautiful house they had rented, the sky opened up and we got all these AMAZING images with the dramatic sky and vibrant sunset.

Folly Beach Family Portraits

Courtney & Aaron are from the Columbus, Ohio area…near my old stomping grounds. Cami is from Troy and I’m from Springfield (sort of). They came to Charleston on vacation and knew they wanted do do the classic Folly Beach Photography Session…khaki, white, barefoot…the whole nine yards! We had a lot of fun…such adorable kids. ๐Ÿ™‚

Historic Charleston Photography

Preston & Rhonda have been friends of ours ever since we met them at Ashley River Baptist many years ago. So it was with great pleasure that I photographed this session with them and their adorable children. My good friend and fellow photographer, Tamara Hart, joined us and got some fun shots of me taking pictures of them. ๐Ÿ™‚ Preston owns Carolina Chillers, Inc.

Anticipation

In anticipation of their nuptials the following day, Susan & Henry decided to be ADVENTUROUS and join me for a fun, casual…and maybe a bit CRAZY…photo shoot at the beach! They wanted dramatic images that captured their spirit and their love for each other in a beautiful, scenic location. We had a BLAST! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Susan & Henry are Married

Susan & Henry have a really AMAZING story! Childhood sweethearts, they drifted apart and went their separate ways in life. After many life-circumstances, they were eventually re-introduced by their brothers. And they’ve been inseparable ever since! ๐Ÿ™‚

Although they live in Kentucky now, Susan lived in Charleston for many years. And Henry, with his fun-loving laid-back personality, is quite at home in the south. So they decided to tie the know down here. Their ceremony was held at the beautiful First Baptist Church and led by the always gracious Pastor Blalock. Flowers were provided by Lisa Ferguson. And coordinating was done by Lori Lethco.

I really enjoyed getting to know Susan and Henry. I could TRULY feel the deep connection between these two. It was an honor being a part of this special moment in their lives. Visit their Online Gallery to see the rest of the images. CONGRATULATIONS you two!!!

USA Eagles Rugby World Cup Qualifying

The USA Eagles rang in Americaโ€™s birthday with a clutch 12-6 victory over Canada in the first match of a home-and-away Rugby World Cup Qualifier series at Blackbaud Stadium on July 4th. It was a privilege being one of the photographers again. I got a taste for the raw violence that is synonymous with this sport last year when I photographed the USA Eagles’ defeat by the French. I wouldn’t want to play the sport, but it’s a lot of fun to photograph! ๐Ÿ™‚ For more on the USA National Rugby Team, visit www.usarugby.org.

Charleston Sports

Though we’re mostly known for our creative wedding imagery, I thoroughly enjoy photographing a number of professional sporting events every year. This is the latest newsletter from the Charleston Metro Sports Council. Check out their brand new website at www.sportscouncil.org !

I just wanted to thank Kathleen Cartland for the AMAZING job she does in bringing these high caliber sports to Charleston. Without her, I wouldn’t have these amazing opportunities to photograph world class athletes, Olympic champions, and sports phenoms! I also want to thank her for the kind write-up in the newsletter!

“An award winning team, Chris & Cami offer a deep assortment of products and cover a wide variety of subjects. Notable sports assignments include; Family Circle Cup Tennis, Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika, World Cup Soccer USA Women vs Mexico, The Miracle Match (Pete Sampras vs Jim Courier), AVP Charleston Open, Bausch & Lomb Championships, SoCon Basketball and Baseball Tournaments, Charleston Battery Soccer, Sr. PGA Championships, and many more.”

Mindy & Eric are Married!

Mindy & Eric came to us as referrals from Kelly & Aaron, who’s wedding we shot a few years ago. Apparently Mindy told Kelly “I’ve just GOT to have your photographer and your band!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Even though they live in Atlanta, Mindy & Eric came back for a really fun e-Session on the beach last year. I had a great time getting to know them and just hangin’ out that afternoon with the beautiful evening sunlight.

The wedding day started out at Charleston Place Hotel where Mindy and the girls were getting ready. I love shooting there with it’s history, charm, and beautiful scenery. We even snuck into an open conference room I noticed was unlocked and got some dramatic pictures in the open window! The ceremony was at the historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church. If memory servers correctly, it was the first Catholic Church in South Carolina! The sanctuary is just GORGEOUS! The reception was held at the Harbor Club…another beautiful venue. I love how they kept all the original brick walls, giving it a unique ambiance. Click Here to see the rest of their photos.

Mindy was STUNNING in her cathedral-length gown, Eric was clearly on top of the world, and everyone was so pleasant and fun to be around. I had so much fun at their wedding. CONGRATULATIONS Mindy & Eric!

State Farm is There

There’s a new State Farm office just outside of Hilton Head Island. The Agent’s name is Kevin Sevier. If you live down that way, make sure you go see him. He’s got to be the nicest, kindest, most honest and strait-shooting insurance agent I know! I’ve photographed his kids. And I’ve photographed his entire staff. Trust me, do yourself a favor and go see him if you need advice on insurance!

One thing that our corporate clients like about us is that for the initial assignment we will come to THEIR OFFICE to photograph all the staff head-shots. That saves productivity since each person just has to step out of their office and stroll to the conference room (or wherever I’m set up). Sure beats each person driving to the studio on their lunch break, right?!? As I photograph each person, the images wirelessly fly across to my laptop where they can see the images immediately afterwards to make sure they’re happy with them before returning to work.

But the real beauty is, several months down the road when a new person is hired, they can simply stop by the studio to have their head-shot taken on the same background with the same lighting as the others. That way even years down the road every team member has professional portraits that match and create an overall professional image for the entire company. John stopped by last week to have his picture added to the others we did for Kevin’s office last month.

If you work for a company that doesn’t have professional head-shots on their website, please let them know about our service!
